The BMW Group remains committed to achieving carbon neutrality by mid-century. To demonstrate progress toward its ambitious 2050 goal, the company has set a new interim target for 2035. It aims to slash at least 60 million metric tons of CO2e compared with 2019 levels. That’s a notable increase from the previous objective of cutting 40 million metric tons by the end of this decade. One line in the press release caught our attention:“By 2035, each euro generated will see less than half as much CO2e emitted compared to 2019.”But BMW’s decarbonization efforts go far beyond tailpipe emissions. Of course, even…
The news cycle usually slows down near the end of the year, but this will be a December to remember thanks to Toyota. We’ve already learned a new supercar will break cover on Friday morning in Japan, but it turns out there’s more to the story. The GR GT will share the spotlight with a Lexus-badged model, and as if that weren’t enough, a track-only machine will join them as well. A new teaser image puts the road-going Toyota front and center. It might not actually carry the Toyota badge since the automotive juggernaut recently announced plans to make Gazoo…
The Petersen Automotive Museum will be opening its exhibit called “Legend of the Dirt,” which will host iconic off-road racing cars. The exhibit is set to open on December 7th of this month. It features classic icons such as the 1970 Bronco Baja winner, the Italian WRC legend 1983 Lancia 037, the Suzuki hatchback of all time, the 1993 Suzuki Cultus Pikes, the off-road racing truck the 1995 Herbst, also known as “the Landshark,” and others, including the Ford Bronco Ultra4 and the rally cross Volkswagen. The 1983 Lancia Rally 037 was the last rear-wheel-drive car to hold its position…
SPONSORED There’s a particular kind of devotion you see in Japan – a discipline shaped not by spectacle but by patience and a quest for engineering perfection and craftsmanship. It’s the kind of dedication that goes into creating the ‘Japan-only’ GLOBAL-IST series of kitchen knives (sharper and more balance), the folding of paper in a tea house, or the shaping of aluminium billet into a shifter knob that feels utterly bespoke. It’s a culture where mastery isn’t an event – it’s a lifetime. The Honda Civic Type R, in its latest sixth-generation form, belongs to this world. That becomes obvious…
The end of the BMW Z4 Roadster is coming into view. Production winds down in the first half of 2026, and once the Final Edition clears U.S. showrooms next spring, the long-running two-seater will bow out with no successor approved. It’s not the first BMW nameplate to disappear, but this one stings more than most — because the Z4 is one of the last BMWs that still feels unmistakably, unapologetically old-school.And that’s exactly why its departure matters.A Shape That Still Carries BMW’s Classic DNAIn a BMW world full of crossovers, illuminated grilles, and sprawling dashboard screens, the Z4 remains a…
The 1970s were a wild time in the automotive industry. New technologies, new thinking, and increasing competition meant automakers had to think outside the box to stand out. For BMW, that meant starting a factory-backed race team. The idea, spearheaded by the infamous Bob Lutz, resulted in BMW’s first M car, which you can now buy. This 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL Werks development car was the first car built by the then-newly developed BMW Motorsport division. M built the car, E9/R1, in late 1972 and early 1973, becoming the first of 21 CSL Werks cars, 11 of which the…
We touched at the Mood Nganya to Optimus Prime Nganya; now we are looking at the 4th time Nganya Awards winner, Opposite Nganya. It features the same characteristics as both the Mood and Optimus, only this time featuring a Canadian flag motif complete with an iconic maple leaf, and from the front facia, it looks highly modified with sharp contours, layered accents, and custom LED headlight housings, giving the bus a futuristic look on the road. The creativity used in Opposite reflects a broader tradition found in many urban regions worldwide of turning public service vehicles into expressive pieces of…
Days after the GAC M8 PHEV people-mover launched in Australia, the newcomer Chinese brand may already be facing its first hurdle. The use of the ‘M8’ may be considered a conflict, with BMW having had its own M8 – a high-performance coupe – in the local market since late 2019.“The BMW Group protects the well-established reputation of its premium products, which are highly regarded and valued by consumers,” a spokesperson for BMW Australia told CarExpert.“We are aware of this brand’s use of nomenclature that is similar to the naming system used by BMW. However, we do not wish to comment further…
Earlier this week, BMW confirmed the inevitable: the Z4 is going out of production. The roadster goes down in history as the last non-M model to offer a stick shift. Before it drives off into the proverbial sunset, the “G29” in Final Edition guise still offers a clutch pedal if you step up to the M40i model in the United States. Europeans can also get the lesser, four-cylinder Z4 sDrive20i with three pedals. Production ends in April 2026, leaving only three models with a manual gearbox. With the Z4 months away from retirement, the do-it-yourself gearbox becomes exclusive to M cars.…
Bugatti is closing the penultimate chapter in the W-16’s story by wrapping up Bolide production. Molsheim’s ultimate track toy is officially no more, with the 40th and final car built and handed over to its rightful owner, or better said, picked up directly from the factory in northeastern France. The owner who paid €4 million for a car they can’t drive on public roads is a Bugatti collector with a classic Type 35 in the garage, a hugely successful racing machine from nearly a century ago. We should also mention that this wealthy customer owns a Veyron Grand Sport, which,…
