Star Wars Jedi 3 Teaser Surfaces Online

The Star Wars Jedi games really have been one of the shining lights for the beloved galactic franchise, at a time where not everything has been hitting as it once did. The story of Cal Kestis has been rattling along as well, from our introduction to him on the ship-breaking planet of Bracca, all the way up to the events at the end of Survivor.

As with all of the tales woven in the Star Wars universe, however, it would be a travesty if his story wasn’t given the ending it deserves, and for that, we are going to need one more game. Happily, one has been confirmed as being in development over at Respawn Entertainment, and the latest update suggests things are continuing to progress for the final part of the trilogy.

Over on Twitter/X, the user Star Wars Holocron shared a post detailing how a new job listing points to development on the game continuing apace. It reads as follows:

“Respawn Entertainment has posted a new job listing for a Narrative Designer dedicated to the team working on the sequel to STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR. This indicates that development on the next Cal Kestis adventure is still active and ongoing.”

Though it doesn’t really tell us exactly how far along development might be, the fact that they are hiring new staff at a time when so many companies are going through layoffs is actually a really encouraging thing. The game also isn’t subject to the immense pressures of other series that haven’t seen a release for a decade or more, hopefully allowing the development team all the time they need to cook up something great.

There are also continuing rumors that protagonist Cal Kestis could be set to pop up elsewhere in the meantime and beyond, in other properties away from video games. He’s certainly now one of the most prominent characters in the immediate post-Order 66 era, and there are plenty of ways to have him appear without fudging the lore too heavily.

As mentioned earlier, we are still a fairly long way away from being able to play the concluding part of the Star Wars Jedi series. Though development on the game is very much the main focus of the studio right now, most estimates place a release at the end of 2027 or beginning of 2028 at the earliest, given the lengthy processes like motion capture that will inevitably be involved.
