Belfast Rock Duo Turn Inward on Bold Sophomore Statement: Hate That I Care” is trending as Dea Matrona unveil the title track from their forthcoming sophomore album, set for release June 5. The announcement has reignited momentum following their 2024 debut For Your Sins, with strong engagement across streaming platforms and music press coverage amplifying visibility. As a self-written and self-produced act, the duo’s growing independence and artistic evolution are drawing increased attention within the UK and Irish rock scenes. The emotionally raw lead single signals a deeper, more personal direction, helping fuel anticipation for the full album rollout.

Dea Matrona are a rock duo from Belfast, formed in 2018 and comprised of Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe. Known for writing and self-producing their entire catalogue, the pair blend gritty classic rock influences with sharp modern songwriting. Their debut album For Your Sins established them as one of Northern Ireland’s most compelling emerging rock acts, and with Hate That I Care, they lean further into vulnerability and self-reflection.

The title track “Hate That I Care” is an introspective and emotionally candid piece. Written as a conversation with oneself, the song explores exhaustion, emotional detachment, and the pressure to show up authentically in a world that constantly demands more. Built on driving instrumentation and heartfelt vocals, it balances strength with fragility — capturing the tension between resilience and emotional burnout. With this release, Dea Matrona reveal a more personal and self-aware chapter of their sound.
