Arc Raiders’ first new map arrives this month, bringing even more Arc units, just as the game casually breaks its own Steam record again

Arc Raiders, easily the biggest game for developer Embark, has seen one of the smoothest, most well-received launches for a multiplayer game in recent memory. But as the saying often goes, this is only the beginning.

Embark wanted to prove to everyone that it’s committed to the future of its new extraction shooter by coming out of the gate with a roadmap for the next several weeks.

Over the weekend, Arc Raiders broke its own Steam concurrent record yet again. After having peaked at 264,673 concurrent players the day it came out – already above any of its previous free tests, the game shattered that figure on Sunday.

It seems word of mouth has been really positive, because the PvPvE shooter just casually added nearly 100,000 new players, peaking at 354,836 concurrent players (via SteamDB) just two days afterwards.

It’s not likely to have had much to do with the developer revealing the game’s roadmap, which also dropped recently. The roadmap was posted on Twitter, and it reveals several key additions coming to the game soon.

For starters, the first post-launch map, Stella Montis, will be available in the game this month. November will also see the first post-launch additions to the Arc army, with Matriarch and Shredder now joining the fray – though it’s unclear whether or not they’re exclusive to the new map.

If you’ve been playing the game, you’ll have no doubt seen that Stella Montis is visible on the world map. There’s a padlock icon alongside it, of course, so nobody could access it. Arc Raiders actually uses this style of teasing something that you may not immediately have access to on several occasions. For instance, only a single one of the game’s launch maps initially becomes available, and the rest get unlocked the more rounds of the game you play.

Back to the roadmap, the first Community Unlock event is also taking place this month, and we can expect new Quests and gameplay items, too. December, on the other hand, is all about events and modifiers.

Next month, we’ll see the Snowfall Map Condition for the first time, and, seemingly to balance out the temperature, Arc Raiders will host the Flickering Flames event. For players who’ve been grinding the game nonestop, the first step towards (voluntary) character wipes will arrive in December, too, with the Expedition Departure Window getting revealed.

Finally, December will also introduce new Quests to the game, as well as the next Raider Deck battle pass.

Whether you’re an extraction shooter veteran who tried several of them in the past, or entirely new to the subgenre and this is the only game that managed to get you into it, our crucial Arc Raiders gameplay tips will help you out on your journey, regardless of your skill level.
