    • Capricorn Group has unveiled its second Zagao 01 hypercar.
    • The first customer deliveries are scheduled for this year
    • Capricorn is building 19 of them.

Capricorn Group, a supplier to Formula 1, LMP1, the World Endurance Championship, and other racing clients, is getting closer to building its first hypercar. The company unveiled its second prototype and announced that customer deliveries will begin later this year.

Capricorn revealed the second 01 Zagato at Salon Rétromobile in Paris, and it’s already in the process of building a third. The company officially launched the car in October and has been carrying out “extensive calibration work” since then.

    Robertino Wild, Capricorn’s CEO, said:

‘Each prototype of the capricorn 01 Zagato allows us to deepen the relationship between design, engineering and driver—and to validate our decisions under real conditions before production begins later this year.’

The car, which has a carbon-fiber monocoque, packs a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing 888 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a five-speed dogleg manual transmission to the rear wheels. Capricorn claims the car will hit 62 miles per hour in less than 3.0 seconds and reach a stop speed of 224 miles per hour.

Capricorn is only building 19 Zagatos, which the company will sell through the Louyet Group luxury automotive retailer. There are “minimal number of build slots” remaining,” with each car costing €2.95 million ($3.5 million at today’s exchange rate).

Motor1’s Take: In a world where modern hypercars lack manual transmissions, the 01 Zagato stands out with its analog approach. Even inside, the car ditches modernity for just two buttons—start-stop and drive mode selector—and a few switches. It’s a driver-focused car we don’t get anymore.
