Every streaming service has its flagship property. For Netflix, it’s hits like Stranger Things and Bridgerton, while Apple TV hangs its hat on series like Ted Lasso and Severance. It took Prime Video a while to find this, but it eventually did so just a few years ago with Reacher. The hit action series is based on the series of novels by Lee Child, and while the hero was previously brought to live-action by Tom Cruise, most fans agree that Alan Ritchson is much more suited in stature to play the character. Prime Video has already released three full seasons of Reacher in the last few years, and another is on the way soon, with a spin-off already confirmed. Reacher has also helped Ritchson to become one of the biggest action stars in the world, and he’s branching out his talents to other streamers.
However, before Prime Video had Reacher, it attempted to create the same magic with Jack Ryan, the Tom Clancy-inspired action series led by former The Office star John Krasinski. The show first premiered in 2018, and after a few delays brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it finished its four-season run back in 2023. Fans weren’t ready to say goodbye to Jack Ryan, though, which prompted Prime Video to bring back Krasinski and other stars like Wendell Pierce (Superman) for a spin-off movie. Updates about the film have been quiet for a while now, but Wendell Pierce took to his personal X account to seemingly confirm that the Jack Ryan movie will premiere on Prime Video this May. Prime Video has a lot of marketing work to do quickly if the movie is coming out in the next two months.
What Else is Streaming on Prime Video Right Now?
The most popular show on Prime Video right now is 56 Days, the gripping thriller show that had the mettle to dethrone Fallout from the top spot. Fallout is still hanging around on the Prime Video streaming charts, along with Ella Purnell’s Sweetpea, the Starz original that recently migrated to Prime Video ahead of the premiere of its next season. The biggest movie to stream on Prime Video right now is The Bluff, the perfect replacement for Pirates of the Caribbean starring Karl Urban (The Boys) and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas (Citadel).
Check out all four seasons of Jack Ryan on Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the upcoming spin-off film.
