Porsche has unveiled another electrified sport utility vehicle from its future line-up. Called the Porsche Cayenne S Electric, it bridges the gap between the base Cayenne Electric and the Cayenne Turbo. The upcoming SUV is part of Porsche’s expanding fleet of electric vehicles.

Cayenne S Electric debuts as a mid-level trim level powered by dual-motor all-wheel drive. In regular driving mode, it has an output of 536 horsepower (400 kW). However, drivers can engage launch control mode to temporarily increase power output up to 657 hp (489 kW). With launch control activated, the SUV can sprint to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155 mph. Performance like this puts Porsche’s electric SUV in luxury performance territory.

Like other Cayenne Electric versions, the S variant is equipped with a massive 108-kWh battery pack. This battery is compatible with charging rates as high as 400 kW, enabling charging from 10 percent to 80 percent state-of-charge in under 16 minutes when using a DC fast charger. Official EPA estimated range has yet to be released for the Cayenne S Electric, but Consumer Reports estimates it to be approximately 320 miles.

Exterior features unique to the Cayenne S Electric are standard front and rear fascia cladding in Volcano Grey Metallic color, and Cayenne-specific 20-inch aero wheels. Buyers also have access to 13 different exterior paint options.

Customers can specify Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and Porsche Active Ride adaptive suspension as optional features. These enhance handling and reduce body roll. Yellow ceramic composite brakes are also an option. Sport Chrono package adds Porsche’s “Push-to-Pass” acceleration boosting system, which adds another 120 hp for a few seconds of increased speed. Porsche calls it Drifting Mode, even though it can’t be enabled while the vehicle is in motion.

Porsche says an Interior Style package will debut across the Cayenne Electric line. It is made up of black and Delgada Green upholstery with Mystic Green Metallic paint on the exterior. Green trim is woven into the seats, seat belts, doors, and stitching throughout the interior. The Porsche logo appears embroidered on the headrests.

Pricing on the Cayenne S Electric starts at $128,650 and deliveries are expected to begin toward the end of summer.
