Popular Game About Dying Is Now Dead Due To Roblox Rule Changes

Be Dead Forever Simulator was released in 2019 as a free-to-play Roblox experience. Since then, over 153 million people have played the game, pouring an untold number of hours into it. But earlier this month, due to Roblox’s new age-gating rules, the game has become completely unplayable. The only way that will change is if its creator, who hasn’t logged into their account in nearly a year, returns to save it.

As spotted by fans on Reddit earlier this month (via Eurogamer), players can no longer hop into Be Dead Forever. This isn’t because it’s glitched or broken. Instead, the once popular game about killing yourself over and over again in different ways remains unrated. That runs afoul of a new Roblox rule change that happened earlier this year. Players’ charts available online show the game likely became unplayable around July 2.

Roblox has faced years of criticism from parents and government officials, and that’s led to the company adding more age identification features and ways to keep kids from talking to creeps or playing stuff their parents might not want them playing. So in August 2025, Roblox began forcing creators to rate their games based on what kind of content was included. The idea was that kids and younger teens would be unable to play more adult games.

However, creators had to add this maturity rating. This is a problem for some older games, like Be Dead Forever Simulator, which doesn’t have a very active creator anymore. Now, a year after the rule involving age rating was enacted, Be Dead Forever Simulator has finally been marked as “Unrated,” making it unplayable until its creator adds an age rating. Be Dead Forever‘s creator mad_hhhh hasn’t logged into their Roblox account in nearly a year and was reportedly barely around before then. So it is very likely that Be Dead Forever Simulator will remain permanently dead… forever.

Many Roblox players want the company to automatically slap an 18+ (the game’s highest rating) on any experience that hasn’t been rated by the creator yet. The idea being that while it might mean some kid-friendly classics become unplayable for younger people, the games will still be playable for adults even if the creators are long gone and never coming back. However, Roblox seems unlikely to make such a change.

“Man, this is really sad,” posted one former player on Reddit. “I remember the old maps, the events, watching videos on YouTube about secrets and stuff…I remember playing with admins who turned people into SCPs and stuff; that was fun!”
