OpenAI Sora 2 Invite Code: How the Waitlist Works and How to Get Access

Just when you thought the internet couldn’t get any more fake, the creators of ChatGPT have decided to launch a social media platform app where nothing is real. It’s called Sora, and it’s a bizarre experiment that’s both intriguing and a little unsettling.

The concept is simple: Sora is a social network for you and your friends, but every single video on the platform is generated by AI. Yes, you read that right. The app’s own disclaimer notes that nothing you see is authentic, which is a wild new direction for social media.

But you can’t just download Sora and start scrolling through the weirdness. To get into this exclusive club of AI-generated content, you need an invite code. If you’re ready to step past the digital velvet rope, here’s what you need to do to get one.

How to get an invite code for OpenAI’s Sora app

To get an invite code, take these initial steps:

    1. Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store. Make sure you pick the one with the navy and white cloud icon.
    2. Log in with your ChatGPT account or tap Use different account.
    3. Tap Notify me when access opens.
    4. In the pop-up window, allow Sora to send you push notifications.

OpenAI said in a post that it’s starting the initial rollout in the US and Canada and intends to expand quickly to additional countries. The company is prioritizing its paying Pro users for Sora access.

Once you get an invite code, you can finish setting up your Sora account. You can then use Sora through the mobile app or website, and you’ll get access to four new invite codes to share with your friends.

(Disclosure: Ziff Davis, CNET’s parent company, in April filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging it infringed Ziff Davis copyrights in training and operating its AI systems.)
