New 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV Offers Vehicle-to-Home Power in Japan

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV has been unveiled in Japan, and one thing stands out about this RAV4: it has a power supply system that’s designed to supply electricity to homes, especially in times of emergencies that need electricity.

The power supply system has been named as “HV power supply mode.” It will be available on RAV4 PHEV models in Japan, and if you are familiar with this tech, you have also seen it on Ford as Ford’s Pro Power Onboard or GM’s Vehicle to Home (V2H). The new RAV4 HV’s power supply mode, when activated, will manage to supply electricity to homes during times of power outages.

The press release stated that the HV power supply mode lets you power your home, and if consistently use 400 watts, the power flow will last 6.5 days. If you switch to “power supply time priority mode,” Toyota says that the power will last another half day to make 7 days of power continuation.

Toyota confirmed that the RAV4 PHEV will have a 100-volt power supply outlet capable of up to 1500 watts (1.5 kW) total output to homes or outdoor appliances.

The HV power supply mode will only be available on the Japanese RAV4, but for the US, it will be available on the new all-electric 2027 Highlander but not on the 2026 RAV4 PHEV. This is according to a Road & Track conversation with a spokesperson.
