KPop Demon Hunters generated a lot of buzz in 2025, becoming one of the most-watched movies in Netflix history. With millions of fans worldwide, the success of KPop Demon Hunters demonstrates that South Korean music continues to gain popularity, and Netflix has taken note, keeping the hype alive by releasing its next series with a K-pop aesthetic and spirit.

In the ever-evolving world of K-pop, KPop Demon Hunters blended music with fantasy, featuring a group of teens fighting dark forces. In a similar vein, Netflix has locked in a new supernatural action series that aims to appeal to both K-pop and anime lovers alike, DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR, a production in collaboration with the Korean idol group ENHYPEN.

Several K-pop groups have webtoons based on them, such as TXT and BTS. But among them, ENHYPEN’s DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR has been particularly well-received by fans, becoming the first to receive an anime adaptation. DARK MOON is a dark fantasy that expands upon the hidden stories from ENHYPEN’s music videos and features a concept that will delight Twilight fans.

In the world of DARK MOON, vampires and werewolves are embroiled in a conflict in a similar style to Twilight. The anime follows Sooha, who recently arrived at Decelis Academy and harbors a deep hatred for vampires. However, her fate seems intertwined with that of seven male students.

Although the main characters are based on ENHYPEN, the werewolves represent the members of the idol group &Team. Even so, thanks to each character’s unique charm, and because DARK MOON hints at many secrets and mysteries that will be gradually revealed, the anime can be easily enjoyed even by viewers unfamiliar with the original webtoon or ENHYPEN.

While KPop Demon Hunters won over fans with its animation style and fantastic soundtrack, it also resonated with viewers thanks to its story of self-acceptance, as Rumi was under constant pressure to hide who she truly was. This is a theme that the Netflix hit shares with DARK MOON, as Sooha hides a secret that makes her fear being mistaken for a vampire.

Furthermore, the Dark Moon soundtrack features ENHYPEN singles, which are closely tied to the story, making it ideal for K-pop fans. DARK MOON will premiere on Netflix and Hulu on January 13, 2026, but viewers can enjoy the series earlier, on January 9, on Crunchyroll. Nonetheless, for fans looking for more K-pop series, DARK MOON could be a great option.
