How To Save Space When Installing Battlefield 6 On PC Or Console

As the size of video games continues to expand thanks to greater resolution textures, uncompressed audio, and more detailed 3D models, space on hard drives is more of a premium than ever. Some especially large titles have begun to adopt the approach of letting players pick and choose what is installed to help save on that coveted storage, and Battlefield 6 is no different.

By default, on Steam, when you click “install,” all the components will be installed, but on console, you will be able to pick and choose what parts you want from the single-player campaign, multiplayer, and the high-res textures for both. However, once you install them, removing the various parts is hidden away a few menus deep, and unless you know the option is available, it isn’t immediately clear that you can, outside of the fact that once you beat the campaign, Battlefield 6 lets you know you can uninstall the campaign, accompanied by a big button.

Here is where you can find the uninstall (and install) options right away, in addition to how to pick what parts you want installed from the get-go on Steam!

How to uninstall / install parts of BF6 within the game:

To start, you can customize what aspects of BF6 are installed to your console or PC right inside the game itself if you prefer. Follow the steps below:

    • Select the “Settings” cog from the top menu
    • Go into the “System” tab.
    • Right at the top, in the “Setup” area, you will see “Install / Uninstall”. Click on the “Edit” button.

This will bring you to the menu where you can manage your owned content. This includes multiplayer, the single-player campaign, and the high-res textures for both single and multiplayer individually.

Choosing one will take you to another screen where you can choose to uninstall (or install) the content.

How to pick what parts you want to install on Steam:

On Xbox and PS5, you’ll be prompted when you first go to install the game to choose which parts of it you want to put on your system, but this isn’t the case on Steam. If you just click “Install” from your Steam library, you will get all 75 GB of goodness that Battlefield has to offer. If you want more control over what you are installing, follow these quick steps.

    • Right-click Battlefield 6 in your Steam Library and select “Properties”
    • In this menu, you will want to navigate to the “DLC” tab.

This will open a window with all of the various things that will get installed, including the single-player and multiplayer parts. All you need to do is uncheck the associated boxes of the parts you don’t want.

From there, install the game as you normally would, and you will be saving on that disk space, right from the start.
