Game Of Thrones Star’s 4-Part Series Is A Hidden Gem On HBO Max

Game of Thrones cast many well-known and respected actors, like Sean Bean, but made household names out of many of its newer stars, and none more so than Kit Harington. Jon Snow (Harington) is one of the few characters who survived the show’s famously high death count, and since then, he has gone from strength to strength.

Kit Harington’s post-Game of Thrones roles have been extremely varied, as he moves further away from his morally sound and heroic character. This has led to some exciting new challenges for the actor. Harington has played a slimy businessman (Criminal: UK,) an Earth-exploiting billionaire (Extrapolations,) and his role in a hidden gem show is one of his most complex yet.

HBO Max is known for its prestige dramas, and one of the most underrated of these is Industry, a four-season financial thriller drama in which Harington plays a spoiled aristocrat who is struggling with major issues. The show has been described as “Succession meets Euphoria,” which is already intriguing enough, but Industry also resembles Harington’s breakout series.

Industry Is Game Of Thrones For The Business World

Game of Thrones might be best known for its dragon scenes and, later, its unsatisfying ending, but the show started out as a fantasy masterpiece full of clever intrigue and political scheming. Industry brings this aspect to an office environment, in which highly ambitious graduates land jobs at the London investment bank, Pierpoint & Co, which brings out the worst in many.

The characters in Industry are trying to get ahead in a world in which every mistake they make or conversation they have could cost them their livelihood. Like Game of Thrones, the show is tense and full of twists, while also being shocking at times, and the season 3 episode “Infinite Largesse” is one of the best TV episodes of the 2020s.

Playing the constant game of one-upmanship while the bosses exploit their ambition takes its toll on many of the characters, like Yasmin and Harper, who have to exploit others in turn. This echoes some of the main characters in Game of Thrones, like Sansa Stark, who finally learns to play the game, though with less of a turn to the dark side.

Industry is Kit Harington’s first multiseason show since Game of Thrones, and he plays Sir Henry Muck, the well-named CEO of green energy. At first, Henry is almost a caricature of a British aristocrat. He is superficially charming, with much more money than he can spend, resulting in addiction issues, but the show expands to make him one of the most ill-fated in Industry.

The season 4 trailer for Industry explored Henry’s chaotic marriage to Yasmin, as he starts to doubt everything about his partner. He becomes more reckless, and watching the Industry season 4 finale led Harington to tell The Hollywood Reporter that he was shocked by his own character’s plight saying, “I turned to the person next to me and said wow, it’s really tragic isn’t it?“

Industry is officially ending after five seasons, and it has been confirmed that the final season will begin filming in August 2026. With the direction that the fourth season took, revealing Russia’s influence and portraying Yasmin as a Ghislaine Maxwell parallel, it is possible that the finale will move further into exploring the intersection of money and politics.

Harington revealed that actors do not always know what will happen next, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I didn’t know how this season would end until we were filming episodes five and six.” Still, in a show so full of shocks and increasingly disturbing behavior among the characters, it looks certain that Industry may come to an explosive and surprising end.
