Browsing: Tech Reviews

The search engine’s definitions have been replaced with AI Overviews. Karissa Bell for Engadget Google appears to be running into some hiccups after the company began rolling out its updated, and even more AI-focused search experience at I/O 2026. Currently, searching for the words “disregard,” “stop” or “ignore” on Google no longer displays a snippet with a definition, and instead offers an AI Overview and a lot of blank space. Because users have complained about the issue on social media, and publications like TechCrunch and Macrumors have reported on it, even if you don’t get a…

The UniFi 5G Backup (model U5G-US or U5G-EU, depending on the market), which Ubiquiti announced and made available today, is a stripped-down version of the UniFi 5G Max (U5G-Max): it’s compact, less capable, and significantly more affordable. “These strategic quantum technology investments will build on our domestic industry, creating thousands of high-paying American jobs while advancing American quantum capabilities,” he added. The move is the latest in a series of attempts by the Trump administration to intervene in the market, offering grants to companies in strategic sectors, such as semiconductors and critical minerals, in exchange for equity stakes. Here’s the good news: Omni, which was unveiled this week at Google I/O 2026, is not fast. Now the bad news: its output is insanely good. It’ll be hard to tell what’s hand-crafted and what’s been generated by the multi-talented Gemini Omni.I guess that’s where SynthID comes in. It’s now part of the Gemini app and can assist in image, audio, and video verification.”You can learn about an image’s origin by using Search features like Lens, AI Mode and Circle to Search, as well as Gemini in Chrome. Just ask, ‘Is this made with AI?’ or ‘Is this AI generated?'”…

Google on Wednesday published exploit code for an unfixed vulnerability in its Chromium browser codebase that threatens millions of people using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and virtually all other Chromium-based browsers. The proof-of-concept code exploits the Browser Fetch programming interface, a standard that allows long videos and other large files to be downloaded in the background. An attacker can use the exploit to create a connection for monitoring some aspects of a user’s browser usage and as a proxy for viewing sites and launching denial-of-service attacks. Depending on the browser, the connections either reopen or remain open even after it or…
