That was quite the explosive season finale for Pluribus. We learned quite a bit, are left questioning even more, and have no idea what’s going to happen in season 2. Luckily, we have the coming weeks and months (but hopefully not years) to talk, theorize, and angrily tap our feet while we wait for new episodes of Vince Gilligan’s hit new science fiction drama. [Ed. note: Major spoilers ahead for Pluribus episode 9.] At least we’re not as hopeless as Carol (Rhea Seehorn) seems at the end of Pluribus episode 9, “La Chica o El Mundo.” After finding out that…

There was really no chance Hollow Knight: Silksong wasn’t going to be a major hit for Team Cherry; the only question was how much of a hit it was going to be. We no longer need to guess, because the game is out and everyone seems to be onboard. Silksong has officially become one of Steam’s biggest releases of 2025, and certainly one of the most significant launches for any indie game. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Last week, I finally traveled to New York City to visit the Kotaku office, hang out with the people who work there, and even meet up with some former staff. It was a great time! Had a blast visiting the city, and getting there was a breeze. However, getting home was a mess and involved me crashing in the Detroit Metro Airport for seven hours before heading home to Kansas City. But it wasn’t all bad news. While in the airport, I found a strange vending machine that dispenses hot personal pizza pies. My wife and I landed in Detroit…

Most years, assessing the state of the Marvel Cinema Universe involves examining multiple feature films and TV series, as well as an active pipeline poised to deliver more of the same in the coming months and years. By comparison, assessing the state of the DC Universe is, for now, a more straightforward task, involving one (1) feature film and one (1) season of television featuring several characters that were actually introduced in a whole other iteration of DC movies and shows. This is because DC Studios overseers James Gunn and Peter Safran appear to be flouting a lot of conventional…

In 2020, the world went into lockdown as a pandemic changed life as we know it. I’m sure you don’t need me to remind you of that. Five years is an awkward period of time. It hangs somewhere between only yesterday and ancient history. While some wounds inflicted by COVID-19’s peak have begun to heal, the disease has left permanent scars. You feel it every time two lines pop up on your COVID test even though you could have sworn we had defeated it. You feel it in that lingering fatigue that you’ve been dealing with for years. You feel…

55 hours into The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, Too Kyo Games’ visual novel turn-based strategy game, I encountered a particularly touching scene. Two characters, who a few days earlier learned something particularly shocking–one of several moments in the game that recontextualizes the whole experience–get up early and end up watching the sun rise together. It’s a little moment of tranquility, of two people bonding over natural beauty amid a particularly rough string of days, and it landed beautifully. It felt like the game was tapping into something a little deeper, a little more melancholic, than what I’d seen before.According…
