A fan digging into the previously leaked source code for Grand Theft Auto V has discovered what appears to be an early version of the main playable character from Rockstar’s infamously canceled PS3-exclusive spy game, Agent. Over the weekend on the GTA Forums (via BenTech on Twitter), someone posted some character models from the GTA V source code, which leaked back in 2023, and suggested they might be related to Rockstar’s canned Agent. User XanaBax clarified that three of the four models were from GTA V and weren’t related to Agent. However, one model, featuring a man in fatigues, wasn’t…
Diablo 4’s Lord of Hatred expansion launches on April 28, bringing the game’s Age of Hatred saga to a close as players work with Lilith to stop Mephisto. The campaign takes place in the new game region of Skovos, an island chain plagued by both volcanic eruptions and vicious storms. Along with previewing its new Warlock class and giving players who pre-purchase the expansion the chance to build a Paladin, Blizzard Entertainment is also providing an early taste of what’s in store through the tie-in prequel novel, The Lost Horadrim. Written by Matthew J. Kirby, who previously penned a series…
Limited Run has been no stranger to online controversy. Between allegations of using cheap recordable media in place of pressed CDs for certain games, a lawsuit for alleged violations of privacy, and severely delayed collectors’ editions arriving with questionable quality control, things have been messy for the Embracer-Group-owned boutique physical games publisher for quite some time. However, with the recent departure of former CEO Josh Fairhurst, it appears that the new management is scrambling to make amends with customers–and subtly trashing the old management in the process. One of the most common complaints around Limited Run Games involves delays–buyers have come…
Mobile games don’t have to make sense, as evidenced by the enduring popularity of a franchise that sees players catapulting birds (which can fly) at pigs (green). But even in the topsy-turvy world of mobile game concepts, Foxy’s Football Islands is gloriously out on a limb. The hypercasual gameplay spans a number of different genres, including football, building, collection, and multiplayer tit-for-tat. These genres aren’t natural bedfellows, any more than a fox is an obvious choice for a football game, but it all works like a dream. Here’s how it all works. Your first port of call is an island…
My personal stake in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and its predecessor The Super Mario Bros. Movie, are low. They are for children and I am an adult. If I have any devoted stance, it is this. I believe the 1993 film adaptation of Super Mario, a box office disaster starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, will endure for much longer. Not merely because it is a train wreck, but because being that train wreck provides something these new movies sorely lack: A fascinating distinctiveness. As the snarky prologue to the 1993 film explains, this is not the Mario World…
Since 1975, video games have been trying to replicate the experience of playing the world’s most famous tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. The actual pen-and-paper game hadn’t been out for more than one year when a student at the University of Illinois created The Dungeon on the PLATO IV system. Fifty years later, D&D-inspired games are winning awards and shaping the industry. Not all of them, however, can capture the experience of a tabletop D&D campaign. Or at least, no one did it as well as Esoteric Ebb has. This game is a homage to the history of CRPGs…
[APRIL 4 UPDATE] The Super Mario Galaxy Movie made $48.3 million at US theaters on Friday, April 3. It is projected to earn $129.4 million domestically by Sunday, according to Variety. It will easily beat Project Hail Mary ($80.5 million in North America) for the biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far in the US. Over the five-day period from opening (April 1) to Sunday, April 4, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is expected to make between $190 million and $200 million in North America, and that would be short of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($204 million) over…
Let’s dive in earlier this month to make up for last month’s slightly late edition. A new month and season is upon us, and I’m ready to help you out with some deck-building advice to keep you competitive in Marvel Snap (Free). Truth be told, I feel like the game got into a decently balanced zone over the course of the last month. A new season means new cards though, so it’s all about to go topsy-turvy again. Let’s do our best to figure out where things are going, shall we? Remember as ever: today’s winning deck could be tomorrow’s…
Amazon’s new Head of Global TV, Peter Friedlander, has requested that the scripts for the upcoming Mass Effect TV series be rewritten to appeal to “non-gamers,” claims a new report by The Ankler. Although that may sound like bad news to fans, the flipside is that production for the series is reportedly “on the verge” of starting. The Ankler reports (via IGN) that several Amazon Prime projects have been delayed by Friedlander, who has apparently taken quite an active role in approving script decisions since taking over as Head of TV in October 2025. The Mass Effect series is one such…
After HBO dumped Sesame Street at the end of 2024, the educational series has been collecting so many new homes that even The Count can barely keep track. In addition to new episodes airing on Netflix and PBS, YouTube signed a deal with Sesame Workshop to air classic episodes. And now, Tubi is also getting in on the action with a deal that includes 250 classic episodes from seasons 1 through 38 (or 1969 through 2007). The aim for the series’ existence on Tubi isn’t just aimed at children, as a Tubi spokesperson invited parents to “share a piece of…
