Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 4th, 2024. The long summer has more or less come to an end. It was sometimes hot and uncomfortable, but we had some good times that are worth remembering. I’m a little older and a little wiser than I was at the start, and I’m grateful I got to make that journey with all of you. As we head into another new season in our lives, I just want to say that no matter what happens from here you were all the best summer pals a person could ask…
Warning: Contains (very minor) spoilers for the ending of Resident Evil Requiem. In an intersection of my particular interests that I most certainly didn’t have on my 2026 bingo card, fans of the Resident Evil franchise – and in particular its recently-released ninth main entry, Resident Evil Requiem – have suddenly become obsessed with a very different favourite of mine: sci-fi otome gacha mobile game Love and Deepspace. Often when fans of a well-regarded industry staple like RE take a sudden interest in a newcomer like LaDS, especially one that’s very openly female-gaze-coded, it’s to dunk on something they find…
The head of Take-Two Interactive‘s AI team has seemingly been laid off, along with an undisclosed number of other employees working on leveraging AI at the company that owns Rockstar Games, 2K, and Zynga. The reorg comes despite CEO Strauss Zelnick saying the parent-publisher is “actively embracing generative AI.” “It’s truly disappointing that I have to share with you that my time with T2 – and that of my team – has come to an end,” Luke Dicken, who became Take-Two’s head of AI in early 2025 after a decade at Zynga, wrote on LinkedIn on Thursday. He added, “We’ve…

Perimeter can still give you a tough time. Hauler is one of…
The Art of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Hardcover) $57 (was $60) | Releases November 24 Preorder at Amazon Preorder at Udon The Art of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Collector's Edition (Hardcover) $100 | Releases November 2026 Preorder at Udon Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was one of 2025’s biggest hits, a gorgeous turn-based RPG that came out of nowhere and became an instant classic on launch day. One striking feature of the game is its art direction, and if you want to explore how Sandfall Interactive combined classic art influences with modern inspiration, you can do so with this new art…
After tackling the best party games on Switch in 2024, the recent release of Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club being as amazing as it is pushed me to write about what I consider the best visual novels and adventure games on Switch to play right now. I’ve included both because some games are pure visual novels while some are adventure games (and not visual novels). This list has quite a few games from across regions and release years, and I hope you find something you end up loving here. As usual, this list is in no particular…
It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything about Petit Planet, the upcoming game from Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse. By most accounts, Petit Planet is the studio’s take on Animal Crossing, though with a few interesting ideas of its own. The game’s most recent test took place all the way back in November, but its next big test isn’t far off. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Manage cookie settings HoYoverse announced today that Petit Planet’s Stardrift Test is scheduled for April 21. This latest build will be available on PC, Android, and…
The cast of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is currently flying around the world and doing interviews to promote the animated film, which is out now in theaters. And when Luigi’s voice actor, Charlie Day, was asked who his favorite Luigi was in “recent American history,” the Always Sunny In Philadelphia actor laughed before naming alleged murderer Luigi Mangione. During a recent interview event in Tokyo, Japan, some of the cast of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie were chatting with an interviewer about the upcoming film. Pretty standard stuff. These interviews are usually boring fluff where guests answer pre-screened questions with…
Magic: The Gathering’s crossovers aren’t always created equally. For every Warhammer 40K Commander deck, there’s a set that doesn’t quite hit the same heights (we’re looking at you, Spidey), but the Avatar: The Last Airbender set was actually pretty great. One of the big draws for fans of the show will undoubtedly have been the card art, though, and while Play Boosters can net you a handy collection to, you know, play with, Collector Boosters are where you’ll find the set’s biggest earners and flashiest designs.
