Nissan says CVTs still have a role in small, light-duty cars. The company is already moving bigger models like the Murano and Pathfinder to traditional automatic transmissions. CEO Ivan Espinosa confirmed CVTs won’t be used in future performance cars. Nissan has had its fair share of issues surrounding its continuously variable transmission—also known as the dreaded CVT. As is tradition, Milan Design Week also hosts the Car Design Award 2026, an award created in 1984 by Auto&Design magazine and revived in 2016 after a long hiatus. The Car Design Award 2026 jury recognized winners across three different categories: Concept Cars, Production Cars, and Brand Design.
