Capcom Confirms Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC In Development

Resident Evil Requiem, which launched last month, has been a rip-roaring success for Capcom, selling over 5 million copies in its first week and breaking records on Steam. So it makes sense that the publisher is planning to add more content to the survival horror sequel, including a just-announced DLC expansion.

On March 10, Capcom posted a video message from Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi on Twitter. In the video, Nakanishi thanked fans for Resident Evil Requiem‘s massive sales before sharing news on what’s coming to the game in the future.

“First, the much-awaited photo mode,” said Nakanishi in the video. “On top of that, there’s another surprise coming around May. We’re planning to add a mini-game. We hope to continue providing support on Resident Evil Requiem to live up to its positive reception.”

No word on what this mini-game will be, but I suspect it will be something akin to a Mercenaries-like mode, using pre-existing assets to create an arcadey, action-filled experience all about killing stuff and getting points. Previous Resident Evil games have received similar modes as free updates. But that wasn’t all the director announced in the video.

“Oh… one more thing,” Nakanishi said, “We are planning to make extra story content. In this [DLC] story, we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem.”

It might be a bit before this new DLC arrives, as Nakanishi further added: “We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it.”

I’m fine waiting for more Resident Evil Requiem DLC as the main game is basically built to be replayed at least once or twice after completing it. So fans can do that while they wait for Capcom to finish up the DLC. Resident Evil Requiem is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2.
