Battlefield 6 streamlines some of the most annoying Challenges yet again, takes out a few of them entirely

The work to continue streamlining Challenges in Battlefield 6 is clearly not done. Having just released a new patch – which already included several updates to Challenges and Assignments – Battlefield Studios has gone in and made even more changes.

This latest round includes far fewer tweaks, but quite surprisingly, it also removes a few of the more annoying ones from the game.

The updated list, which Battlefield shared on Twitter, includes changes to the dreaded Recon 2 headshots beyond 150m Challenge. Now, any headshot beyond 75m will count. Recon Expert 3 is another headshot-themed one that’s been updated, and now requires getting headshot kills beyond 125m, rather than the practically impossible beyond 200m that it required previously.

The Rapid Fire 2 Challenge, which required getting kills beyond 50m with Assault Rifles, has been changed so it now tracks anything beyond 40m. The painful ‘Inflict damage under 15m while hip-firing with Assault Rifles’ has been entirely replaced with one that requires – the far more sensible – inflicting damage while in ADS with Assault Rifles.

A couple of Challenges, such as the one that required suppressing enemies with LMGs, and another that wanted you to deal damage to laser-designated vehicles using lock-on weapons, have both been removed.

The journey to make Challenges and Assignments easier to complete has been a long one. Progression has been one of the key areas of criticism Battlefield 6 received at launch. The issue encompassed more than just slow player and weapon XP earn rates, it also prevented players from accessing new Training Paths for the various classes, and several of the game’s weapons.

Battlefield Studios attacked the problem from multiple angles, initially boosting the XP players and their weapons would earn, before later reducing the requirements of the Challenges themselves. The developer continued to streamline those requirements over multiple patches, including majorly overhauling the system earlier this month.

It seems the studio is more confident than ever in the game, as it recently announced that Battlefield 6 will be getting its first free trial next week, offering players who do not own the full game access to iconic modes like Conquest, and Breakthrough – though on an unusual selection of maps.
