Aston Martin Prototype: Caught Testing On Video

    • A new video shows Aston Martin testing a mysterious new prototype.
    • It has a Formula 1-inspired design that includes a Halo cockpit protection system.
    • It sounds like it has a hybrid V12 engine, just like the Valkyrie.

A short TikTok video has left us scratching our heads. It allegedly shows Aston Martin testing a new hypercar that looks as if the automaker crossed its Formula 1 car with the Valkyrie.

The clip provides no real details about the vehicle, which shows it coming off an undisclosed track. It has a single seat with a Halo cockpit protection system, as you would see on a real F1 car, but the aerodynamics are much more extreme—and the car looks very wide.

It appears Aston’s new car features a similar front suspension setup to the Valkyrie—double wishbones with pushrod-actuated torsion bars. That front nose also looks Valkyrie-like, with a bladed bumper and a pair of pylons connecting the lower front splitter.

The back of the prototype is difficult to discern, but it has a massively wide wing and a center-exit exhaust. There’s also a large intake above the cockpit, crowned with a large shark fin along the spine, similar to the Valkyrie LM.

    Possible Powertrain

The video’s audio quality isn’t great, but it sounds like Aston put a hybrid V12 engine in this vehicle, possibly the same one that powers the Valkyrie. The engine turns off as the driver pulls off the track, with the car silently moving under its own power.

The hybrid V12 that powers the Valkyrie is a 6.5-liter Cosworth-developed engine. The engine revs to 11,000 rpm, and the car’s combined output is 1,160 horsepower.

Motor1’s Take: The Aston Martin Valkyrie already is a bonkers car. It generates about 4,000 pounds of downforce in its standard configuration and can achieve 3.3 lateral g-forces. This might be an extreme version of that, and maybe even the Valkyrie’s successor.
