An Odd Fix For Marvel Tōkon On PC Is Giving Mixed Results

Marvel Tōkon players on PC can’t seem to agree on whether the latest odd fix for the game’s lousy performance is actually making a difference or not, although that may have more to do with how bizarre said fix is. That’s because, according to several players, opening the Epic Games Store and leaving it running before booting up Marvel Tōkon seems to have a positive impact on the game’s performance.

Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous and, if we’re being completely honest, outright unbelievable, as there’s really no discernible reason that opening the Epic Games Store should have any kind of effect on the performance of a game. And yet, multiple users across both Reddit and X have stated that it seems to have fixed some, if not all, of their Marvel Tōkon issues.

That being said, it’s important to note that several others have reported that opening EGS before launching the game has made no difference whatsoever, and that users reporting improved performance may simply be imagining things.

So, I decided to give it a go myself, and strangely enough, I can say that it did seem to make a difference. Nothing huge, but some minor FPS improvements and, weirdly, less impact on my PC’s CPU.

However, I don’t feel confident saying that leaving the Epic Games Store running in the background is actually to blame for this, as a myriad of other factors, such as relaunching the game a dozen times to test this, could equally be causing said improvements.

Ultimately, it’s just sad that Marvel Tōkon players on PC are having to resort to testing out jerry-rigged, unconfirmed solutions like this in a bid to make the game run slightly better. Hard to believe that anyone thought the PC port was acceptable to release in its current state, especially when it seems as if the performance complaints from the beta test have yet to be fixed.
