Shift Up revealed Stellar Blade Blood Rain at Summer Game Fest on Friday. It’s a sequel to the 2024 action game Stellar Blade, and will continue the story from the first game.
Blood Rain will “will continue the story beyond the events of the first game,” according to its official description. It will star a new protagonist, Evie. (Very creative, since Stellar Blade‘s main character was just named Eve.) The trailer shows her navigating a crowded city right before someone gets turned into a naytiba, the horrifying monsters Eve kills by the dozen in the first game.
Gameplay looks just as intense in Stellar Blade Blood Rain as Evie takes down a few naytibas. It also looks just as horny as the first game as Shift Up included a few butt shots in the trailer. Some things never change.
Stellar Blade Blood Rain was confirmed to be in development last summer. While a Shift Up investor report at the time hinted that it might arrive in 2026, the trailer doesn’t have any information about when the game will release. Shift Up confirmed it will self-publish Stellar Blade Blood Rain, which is notable as the first game was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was a PlayStation 5 exclusive before being ported to Windows PC a year later. Stellar Blade Blood Rain could now wind up being a multiplatform release, though no platforms have been confirmed at this time.
The first game sold over 6 million copies and received a positive response from critics. Our review called Stellar Blade “an impressive console debut that suggests a very promising future for Shift Up.”
