PlayStation Plus Makes Iconic Trilogy Free For Subscribers

As always, PlayStation Plus has a few new games coming to Essential in April. This month, though, there’s a bit of an extra bargain thrown into the mix. Along with Lords of the Fallen and Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, PS Plus Essential subscribers will get a three-for-one deal with the addition of a trilogy remaster.

The bundle in question is Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, which tosses remasters of the first three games in the legendary franchise into one comprehensive package. Ahead of Tomb Raider‘s planned franchise comeback, this could be the perfect option for both new players attempting to get their feet wet and veterans looking to revisit some childhood classics.

The original Tomb Raider trilogy is legendary for a reason, codifying many action-adventure staples that have defined games for decades since. For the most part, the remasters are a faithful way to play, featuring both an enhanced graphics mode and the option to use the original polygonal look in its stead. It’s arguably the most exciting addition to PS Plus this month, although Lords of the Fallen could be of particular interest to dedicated fans of the Soulslike genre.

That being said, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered has lately been the subject of controversy thanks to a new update, which added a challenge mode and a variety of new outfits. Fans have pushed back at bugs introduced in the update, criticized the added content, and voiced suspicions of AI art used in advertising the costumes, prompting developer Aspyr to issue an apology and a patch addressing some of the issues.

Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis

Tomb Raider pre-gamed off its 30th anniversary this year by revealing Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst at The Game Awards 2026 and slating the former for a 2026 release date. Legacy of Atlantis is a total remake of the first Tomb Raider game, while Catalyst will be a new installment in the franchise. In January, Amazon also offered a first look at Sophie Turner in the role of Lara Croft for a planned Tomb Raider, which is expected to release in 2027.

It’s all part of a big comeback for the franchise, which has stuck to remasters since the 2018 release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Taking Tomb Raider I-III Remastered‘s iffy update in stride, it’s a promising time to be a Tomb Raider fan, and the opportunity to enjoy the original games on PlayStation Plus is a nice way to celebrate.
