Brand New Day Trailer Scenes Taken Straight From Marvel Comics

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is packed with stunning visuals that leaped straight off the pages of Marvel Comics. From perfectly framed action shots to subtle visual homages, it’s clear the film is drawing heavily from Spider-Man’s long comic book history. Rather than simply telling a new story, the trailer celebrates Spider-Man’s legacy by recreating some of his most iconic imagery.

These moments are deliberate callbacks that longtime fans will instantly recognize. This feels largely like a (very welcome) response to calls for a more comic-accurate, “friendly neighborhood” Spidey in the MCU timeline. As a result, Brand New Day looks determined to honor what came before while still pushing Peter Parker forward.

Spider-Man Carries A Man While Singing Through New York

One of the most striking shots in the Brand New Day trailer features Spider-Man swinging through a grey, overcast New York skyline while carrying a man in his arms. The image is instantly familiar to comic fans. It directly recreates the legendary cover of Amazing Fantasy #15, the very first appearance of Spider-Man.

In that original artwork, Spidey is shown swinging across rooftops with a man in hand – later revealed to be a Spidey fan who fell from a rooftop. The composition is remarkably faithful. Even the muted tone of the sky mirrors the original cover.

It’s a powerful nod to Spider-Man’s origins. The MCU previously recreated the scene in the animated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man. It is an especially promising indication that Brand New Day will recall Web-Head’s comic history more, much like Fantastic Four: First Steps did.

    Spider-Man In His Cocoon

Another visually arresting moment in the Brand New Day trailer shows Spider-Man waking in a cocoon-like state. He’s bound and suspended in a way that immediately recalls The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #392. In that issue, Peter Parker is discovered wrapped up and hanging from his ceiling, symbolizing a period of transformation and vulnerability.

The trailer appears to draw directly from that unsettling imagery, emphasizing a darker, more introspective phase for the character. This idea is extended further when Spider-Man awakens while hanging from the side of a building. This echoes the cover of Other: Evolve or Die.

That storyline famously explored Peter’s evolution and rebirth. It suggests Brand New Day may be tapping into similar themes. Together, these scenes hint at a narrative that challenges Spider-Man physically and emotionally in ways audiences haven’t seen before.

    Spider-Man Vs Tarantula

The Brand New Day trailer also delivers a thrilling action sequence featuring Spider-Man battling the villain Tarantula while clinging to the side of a ship. This scene is a direct recreation of The Amazing Spider-Man #134 cover from July 1974. In the original comic art, Spider-Man crawls on the side of a ship’s stack while facing off against the steel-toed foe.

The film brings this imagery to life perfectly. The police officer aiming his gun and the New York shoreline are impressively faithful. Of course, Tarantula’s costume has been suitably modernized to fit the MCU tone. Yet, the razor-tipped boots and color scheme are perfect.

It’s a thrilling recreation of a lesser-known Spidey moment. This deep-cut reference truly flaunts the filmmakers’ attention to detail and commitment to comic book fidelity.

    Spider-Man Vs Boomerang

Another standout moment in the Brand New Day trailer features Spider-Man facing off against Boomerang. It’s a sequence ripped straight from the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man #345. In that comic, Spidey swings directly toward the viewer while engaging the villain, adopting one of Spidey’s most iconic poses.

The trailer recreates this perspective almost perfectly. It shows Spider-Man launching himself forward as Boomerang attacks, with the same kinetic energy that made the original cover so iconic. Like the comics, the shot is framed in a way that emphasizes Spider-Man’s speed and agility.

It’s a visually striking homage to an important comic moment. It honors the dynamic action style pioneered by Todd Macfarlane during his run on The Amazing Spider-Man which revolutionized Spider-Man’s web-swinging in the comics.

    Spider-Man’s Black Eyes

One of the most unsettling moments in the Brand New Day trailer shows Peter Parker’s eyes turning completely black. It hints at a disturbing transformation taking hold. This imagery is pulled directly from Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 2 #17.

There, Peter undergoes a mutation that causes him to evolve into the terrifying Man-Spider (aka Spider-Monster). In that storyline, Spider-Man grows multiple black eyes, emphasizing the loss of his humanity and control. While the trailer doesn’t fully reveal the extent of the transformation, the visual parallel is unmistakable.

The darkened eyes alone evoke a sense of unease, signaling that something is deeply wrong. It suggests that Peter’s powers may be evolving beyond his control, potentially tying into a larger arc about identity and mutation. If the film follows this inspiration closely, audiences could see a far more monstrous side of Spider-Man than ever before.

    Spider-Man Is Scanned

Another intriguing sequence in the trailer shows Spider-Man undergoing a detailed scan to analyze his changing physiology. It’s a moment that strongly recalls The Amazing Spider-Man #258. In that comic, Peter seeks help from Reed Richards to better understand the alien symbiote bonded to him, leading to one of the most important discoveries in his history.

The Brand New Day trailer appears to adapt this concept, but with a twist. Peter has seemingly turned to Bruce Banner for assistance instead. Nevertheless, the visual of Spider-Man standing still while advanced technology scans his body mirrors the clinical, uneasy tone of the original comic moment.

It reinforces the idea that Peter is dealing with something he doesn’t fully understand. Much like in the comics, this scene suggests a turning point. Scientific analysis could uncover the true nature of the threat he’s facing – and how dangerous it could become.

    Spider-Man Vs Punisher

The Brand New Day trailer teases a tense confrontation between Spider-Man and the Punisher, with Frank Castle aiming a gun directly at the web-slinger. This moment is a clear homage to the iconic cover of The Amazing Spider-Man #129. This marked the Punisher’s first appearance and famously depicted him hunting Spider-Man.

In that original artwork, Spider-Man is squarely in Punisher’s sights, establishing the deadly seriousness of the vigilante’s mission. The trailer recreates this dynamic, capturing the same sense of danger and moral conflict. It does appear, though, that they are already allies in Brand New Day.

The visual callback honors a classic comic moment and sets up a clash of ideologies. The trailer already suggests Spider-Man’s PG-13 nature collides with Punisher’s brutal methods. Their interactions could offer one of the film’s most intense collisions.

    Spider-Man Vs The Hand

A visually spectacular sequence in the trailer shows Spider-Man battling members of the Hand as they leap through the air in perfect formation. It creates a striking and almost surreal image. This moment closely resembles the cover of The New Avengers #27 from April 2007.

There, Elektra and the Hand descend en masse upon Ronin in a coordinated aerial assault. The Brand New Day trailer captures that same sense of overwhelming force, with multiple enemies attacking at once in a highly stylized ariel composition.

The choreography mirrors the elegance and precision associated with the Hand in the comics. It’s a deep visual reference that expands the scope of the film. It suggests a possible connection to Daredevil’s world in either comics or the television series.

Spider-Man Gets The Key To The City

The Brand New Day trailer also includes a rare moment of public celebration. Spider-Man is awarded the key to the city by Sheila Rivera, an advisor to Mayor Wilson Fisk. A similar scene appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #648, where Peter receives the same honor from J. Jonah Jameson during his time as mayor of New York.

In the comics, the moment serves as a powerful acknowledgment of Spider-Man’s heroism, especially given Jameson’s long history of criticizing him. The trailer appears to echo that emotional payoff. It also seems to function as a way to contrast Spider-Man’s public adoration with Peter Parker’s loneliness after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The involvement of Wilson Fisk adds an intriguing layer of tension after the events of Daredevil: Born Again. It hints that the honor may come with complications. While the imagery reflects a triumphant comic moment, the context hints that this public recognition could play a more complex role in the story.

    Spider-Man Vs Scorpion

The Brand New Day trailer’s brief but intense glimpse of Spider-Man battling Scorpion is another moment that feels lifted straight from the comics. This scene could fit several iconic Spider-Man covers. However, it’s particularly reminiscent of The Amazing Spider-Man #318.

In that issue, Spider-Man narrowly dodges Scorpion’s deadly stinger as it slams into a building in an alley-like setting. The trailer captures this exact dynamic. Scorpion’s stinger crashes through structures as Spider-Man twists and evades with acrobatic precision.

The visual parallels to that specific cover are especially striking. The framing, the destructive impact, and Spider-Man’s evasive movement all align closely with the original artwork. It’s another example of how Spider-Man: Brand New Day is blending cinematic spectacle with faithful comic book inspiration.
