Arc Raiders has proven that extraction shooters can be popular, with over 4 million copies sold in under two weeks

It’s pretty clear at this stage that Arc Raiders is one of the biggest launches of 2025. More interesting than the numbers themselves, however, is that this is an extraction shooter – a subgenre which has typically been thought of as niche.

If you’ve been paying the PvPvE game any attention, you could easily see how (and why) it keeps breaking its own records.

Today, publisher Nexon announced in a press release (via Gematsu) that Arc Raiders has now sold over 4 million copies. The game came out on October 30, which means it managed to sell that many copies in a little over 10 days.

The news comes on the same day that developer Embark Studios announced that the game had more than 700,000 concurrent players across all platforms over the weekend. Over the same weekend on Steam alone, Arc Raiders broke its own Steam concurrent record with a new peak of 462,488 players – which is a significant chunk of that 700,000+ player base.

This marks the second time the extraction shooter has broken its own concurrent player records, which is something very few games have managed in the past. Arc Raiders remains a top-seller, too. On Steam, it’s currently the second-best seller globally (by revenue), sitting just below Counter-Strike 2.

“The many different ways you play and participate in ARC Raiders have completely blown us away, going far beyond what we ever imagined. You surprise us, you outsmart us, and you keep us on our toes. We wouldn’t have it any other way,” the developer wrote on Twitter.

Embark recently published a roadmap to highlight all the new content coming to the game over the remainder of this year. The first new map is set to arrive this month alongside new Arc units, new gameplay items, new events and more.

Just over the weekend, the game received several new Map Conditions that completely alter the way they play. The developer has already rolled out a couple of updates since launch, in order to tackle exploits and fix a few launchday bugs.
