1.27M Ram 1500 Trucks Recalled Over Rear Seatbelt Safety Risk

Ram has made an announcement of performing a voluntary recall of over 1,271,294 Ram 1500 pickup trucks from the 2019 to 2026 model years. The recall covers 156,138 vehicles in Canada and 74,084 vehicles in Mexico, while the rest of the numbers may be in the US and a few other countries.

According to the automaker, the vehicles affected by the recall center and driver-side rear seats may have been produced with seatbelt anchors that weren’t well attached to the vehicle. In an incident that involves a crash, the incorrectly attached seatbelt anchors may fail to protect the passenger, increasing the chances of injuries and not meeting federal standards.

Affected owners will be notified by the automaker with directions to bring their trucks to a dealership for inspection, where a technician will take a look at the seatbelt buckles in rear seats, and if needed, they will correctly attach them to the vehicle’s body at no charge.

The automaker will file the official documents with the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). As of now the document has not been made available, and once the recall is officiated, owners who are concerned that their vehicles may be included can check on the NHTSA recall website here.
