Volkswagen Revives Physical Buttons in New EV Cockpit

The interior of the upcoming Volkswagen electric vehicle will showcase the newly revealed cockpit and refreshed ID. Polo.

They previously announced that they will be bringing certain physical buttons now in the upcoming days that will be a reality. According to Volkswagen, the changes will elevate customers’ experience, bringing it to a new level.

Unlike modern EVs, which have a bunch of screens, haptic controllers, and digital buttons, the upcoming Volkswagen EVs will have physical buttons and switch gears, which will be seen on the Polo’s interior.

The steering wheel has a new cluster of buttons, which are involved in cruise control and also interacting with music playback, while temperature and fan speed are being controlled by switches now in a row along the dashboard.  This move isn’t new to Volkswagen, as it already shifted with the new versions of the Golf and Tiguan in the USA.

Some controls, like the climate controls, for example those for rear defrost and also the heated seats, remain through the touch screen, maintaining their spot at the bottom of the display.

The models that will receive the new cockpit design haven’t been announced by Volkswagen. Also, the redesigned interior may be limited to the brand’s electric vehicles.
