vivo Confirms OriginOS 6 To Launch On October 15: What To Expect?

vivo has announced that its next big software update, OriginOS 6, will arrive in India on October 15. The update will replace the older Funtouch OS, which has been the default on vivo and iQOO phones outside China. With this launch, Indian users will finally have access to the same software experience that vivo has been offering.

For years, Funtouch OS has powered vivo and iQOO smartphones outside China. However, in 2025, it fell behind competitors like ColorOS, which offer much better animations and features. Now, the shift to OriginOS aims to fix those gaps while bringing a consistent software experience across all regions.

    Key Features of OriginOS 6

vivo’s OriginOS 6 comes with several key features:

    • Built on Android 16: This provides a rock-solid system, quick updates, and a cleaner, more modern-looking interface.
    • Drag-and-Drop Tools: You can drag-and-drop pictures and files around applications without the need for more steps.
    • Jovi Voice Assistant: Intelligent voice instructions assist with performing tasks effortlessly and effectively.
    • AI Call Assistant: It summarizes the calls, interprets the conversations, and even automatically replies.
    • Atomic Island: Displays live updates and suggestions based on what you are doing on the phone.
    • Modern Design Upgrades: Refined animations, new icons, and more personalisation options make the interface look fresh.

    Beta Testing Before Launch

Before the official release, vivo has started closed beta testing for select X200 Pro users in India. At the same time, iQOO is running developer beta trials through its community. These early rollouts enable companies to gather feedback and address any issues that may arise. The first devices to come with OriginOS 6 pre-installed will be the vivo X300 series and iQOO 15, with other models set to get the update gradually.
