“The Final Puzzle” challenge in Resident Evil Requiem requires you to “let the sweet pair hear the voice.” The challenge’s conditions are fairly vague as you don’t know who the sweet pair are and what voice you have to listen to. However, the solution to the puzzle is much more complicated than that, as you’ll need to collect The Girl’s Severed Hand, learn astronomy, and… flush toilets?

Here’s how to complete ‘The Final Puzzle’ challenge in Resident Evil Requiem and let the sweet pair hear the voice.

    ‘The Final Puzzle’ challenge walkthrough

“The Final Puzzle” challenge in Resident Evil Requiem is extremely complicated, but X users KyroGeorge and Rantyscrancy, have figured out the solution.

To complete “The Final Puzzle” challenge in Resident Evil Requiem, you’ll need to either start a new save file or load a save file from before the meat grinder sequence in the Care Center’s basement.

Before you start, you should know that completing the challenge is a lengthy process. If you complete this challenge in chronological order, you’ll need to play through RE9 multiple times. At its shortest, you can finish the challenge in one entire playthrough and a bit more on top of that.

If you’re looking to complete the challenge in one playthrough, you’ll need to do the following:

    1. Progress to the Processing room from the Inspection room in the Care Center’s basement.
    2. Wait 15 minutes as the corpses drop into the bloody water.
    3. Complete the Basement portion of the story and collect the Severed Hand beside the elevator.
    4. Flush a toilet in the Restroom eight times.
    5. Use the Severed Hand at the blood analyzer in the Blood Lab.
    6. Head to a typewriter and create a save file.
    7. Find the code for G on the blood analyzer in the Blood Lab.
    8. Find the code for U in the hourglass in the VIP Suite.
    9. Find the code for C on Grace Ashcroft’s Blood Analysis Report (file) in the Private Lab in the Research Facility.
    10. Collect Marie’s Doll at the bottom of the stairs as you’re escaping the Research Facility.
    11. Kick the head through the basketball hoop on the Basketball Court in Raccoon City Center.
    12. Return to the small building north of Gun Shop Kendo and interact with the fallen figure to find the code for A.
    13. Finish your playthrough.
    14. Load your save file from step six.
    15. Collect Marie’s Doll from an item box as Grace.
    16. Use the Severed Hand at the Blood Analyzer in the Blood Lab.
    17. Input the code into the puzzle box in the Lead Researcher’s Office with the doll in your inventory and while holding Emily.

Below, we’ll explain how to complete “The Final Puzzle” as quickly as possible, starting with what to do with the Severed Hand. Additionally, we recommend using every tool available to you. Whether it’s playing on casual difficulty, using infinite ammo, or even infinite RPGs, you should take advantage.

Progress to the Processing room in the Basement

First things first, you’ll need to start a new save file or load a save at the beginning of the Basement. Then, you’ll need to progress until you can reach the Processing room from the Inspection room, which means you’ll need at least two joint plugs and the Forklift key.

After you follow the conveyor belt of hanging bodies into the Processing room, you’ll need to wait 15 minutes, as the corpses drop into the bloody water. It’s unclear as to why you need to wait here so long, but it’s believed that it relates to the Subject 170 Record (file).

In the file, it’s said that a 2.3 milliliter sample from the 524.3 liters of blood collected from the 115 infected was administered to Marie. Thus, we need to wait until 115 bodies drop into the blood.

From here, drain the bloody liquid and descend the ladder to initiate the meat grinder section of the Basement, but try to send as many zombies as possible into the grinder. Don’t execute any of the zombies with your weapons, but, instead, try to immobilize them by shooting them in the legs.

Once this section is over, proceed through the Basement like normal.

What to do with the Severed Hand in Resident Evil Requiem

After you escape from the Basement, you’ll find The Girl’s Severed Hand on the floor. At first, you might think that it’s just a memento that you can hold onto, but it actually leads to the first step of “The Final Puzzle” challenge.

Take the Severed Hand to one of the blood analyzers in the Care Center, either in the Blood Lab or the Office, but we recommend going to the Blood Lab (more on that later). After you analyze it, the computer monitor will show you a screen that says, “Let’s play,” and the code: GGC AAG AUA ACG UGU CAU.

This will all look like gibberish (unless you’re familiar with codons), so we’ll need to figure out what these letters mean. However, before that, we’ll need to flush some toilets.

Before we go hunting for the letters, let’s take a quick bathroom break. Head to the Restroom in the West Wing and enter the first stall. We’ll need to flush the toilet eight times. The reasoning as to why is a little unclear, but Reddit user, Minimum_Function_684, seems to have found a possible clue.

On the fourth page of the Investigation Report (file), there’s a photo of a corpse by a toilet with, what looks like, an eight written in blood.

After you’ve flushed the toilet eight times, let’s head back to the Blood Lab to find the first letter.

    Save your game

If you want to save some time and avoid having to play through the entire Basement section again, make sure to save your game at a typewriter. This will be extremely helpful later on in the puzzle as you can save yourself at least an hour (or however long it takes you to complete the Basement and collect the Severed Hand).

Rather than having to play through the Care Center again, you can load this save later to speed up the process.

How to solve the ‘Let’s play’ puzzle in Resident Evil Requiem

To decipher the code, we’ll need to find what each letter corresponds to somewhere during the Resident Evil Requiem story.

Return to the Blood Lab and interact with the blood analyzer so that it opens up your inventory. Rather than inputting an item, look at the bottom corner of the analyzer to find the first code: G = 150000000.

For now, that just adds more confusion, but the next two letters can be found shortly after in the Care Center Courtyard.

First up is the Hourglass in the VIP Suite. Interact with the Hourglass and turn it until you can remove both screws. After you’ve done that, flip the Hourglass, so that the sand starts to fall. If you look inside the upper compartment, you’ll see the code, U = 380,000, written inside.

The next letter is found just a bit ahead on a file in the Private Lab. After you enter, immediately turn to the left to find Grace Ashcroft’s Blood Analysis Report (file) on the desk. If you scroll to the bottom of the file, you’ll find the code: C = 4.2 ly. With this, we finally know what type of numbers we’re dealing with.

Ly is an abbreviation of light years, which is a unit of distance commonly used in astronomy. If you remember your time in the Care Center, you’ll remember a few commonly used astronomical symbols: the Sun, moon, and star. Now that we know that the codes are actually distances, we’ll have to put the symbols and their respective letters together:

    • The Sun is 150 million kilometers away from the Earth, meaning that the Sun is G.
    • The moon is 380,000 kilometers away from the Earth, meaning that the moon is U.
    • The star (Proxima Centauri, which is the closest star to the Earth) is 4.2 light years away from the Earth, meaning that the star is C.

Now, you’re probably wondering what A is, but before that, we’ll need to get Marie’s Doll as we’re escaping the Research Facility.

How to get Marie’s Doll in Resident Evil Requiem

Progress through the Research Facility until you make it to the evacuation sequence. After you head through the Emergency Evacuation Route door, you’ll enter another room full of blister heads and the giant red orb, which shortly breaks and floods the room with even more blood.

Go through the room until you reach the stairs, where you’ll find Marie’s Doll on the floor. Make sure to pick it up and progress until you defeat the Tyrant in Raccoon City Center.

    Solving the ‘Let’s play’ puzzle

After you defeat the Tyrant in Raccoon City Center as Leon, head over to the basketball court where you’ll find the head of a figure. Push the head through the basketball hoop on the floor, and interact with it, which will make Leon say, “There’s no time for playing around.” This will make a shelf in a nearby room fall over.

Open the locked door in the basketball court, and backtrack to the small room just north of Gun Shop Kendo. Inside, you’ll find a headless figure on the floor, and if you interact with it, Leon will say, “Just ignore A.”

This means that we can remove the A from the “Let’s play” code, which makes it GGC GUC GUG UCU. If we translate that with the symbols, we’ll get the following code: Sun Sun Star — Sun Moon Star — Sun Moon Sun — Moon Star Moon. Now, with the doll in Grace’s inventory and the code solved, all you’ll need to do is finish this playthrough. We recommend choosing the “destroy Elpis” option as it’ll lead to a faster ending, so you can quickly finish the puzzle.

How to complete ‘The Final Puzzle’ challenge in Resident Evil Requiem

After you’ve completed your playthrough with Marie’s Doll in your inventory, load up your save from earlier. If you forgot to save or don’t have a save file of Grace somewhere in the Care Center, you’ll unfortunately need to start a new playthrough and progress until you collect the Severed Hand.

Head over to an item box to find Marie’s Doll inside. At this point, you should have the Severed Hand and Marie’s Doll in your inventory, and be able to pick up Emily. Carry Emily and head to the blood analyzer in the Blood Lab to analyze the Severed Hand again. If you don’t do this step, you cannot interact with the puzzle box in the Lead Researcher’s Office, so make sure to do it!

Then, head to the Lead Researcher’s Office and input the code (Sun Sun Star — Sun Moon Star — Sun Moon Sun — Moon Star Moon) into the puzzle box.

If inputted correctly, you’ll hear a child giggle and complete “The Final Puzzle” challenge.
