Henry Cavill is best known for his work playing Superman in Zack Snyder’s DCEU, but he’s also starred in plenty of other action movies, some certainly more successful than others. Cavill unsurprisingly found box office success with 2013’s Man of Steel, but his last two movies have been colossal box office bombs. In 2024, Cavill opened the year with Argylle, the spy thriller co-starring Bryce Dallas Howard that failed to gross half its $200 million budget. He followed it with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the WWII action thriller from Guy Ritchie that also underwhelmed at the box office despite a more modest budget.
In 2018, Cavill starred in what many would agree is the worst film of his career, which is Night Hunter. Formerly titled Nomis, the film follows a police lieutenant who works with his force and a vigilante to track down a serial killer. In addition to Cavill, the film also stars Ben Kingsley (Wonder Man), Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus), Stanley Tucci (Conclave), and more. David Raymond wrote and directed the film, which received remarkably low scores of 14% from critics and 51% from audiences on the Rotten Tomatoes aggregator site.
In America, Night Hunter is currently streaming for free on Pluto TV, but globally, the film has been a sensation streaming on Paramount+, despite poor reviews. However, while it had recently climbed as high as the top three, it has since been overtaken by Pig, the 2021 Nic Cage masterpiece that earned a 97% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Although it’s one of the highest-rated films of all time, Pig grossed only a few million at the global box office. It’s streaming on Netflix in America.
Henry Cavill’s New Fantasy Reboot Is Heating Up
One of the most anticipated movies without a release date is Highlander, the fantasy remake starring Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe. Highlander, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski, is now in production. Cavill shared first-look behind-the-scenes images from the production just last week, and they garnered millions of likes and views on social media. Highlander does not have an official release date, but assuming it is filming through at least the first half of 2026, it likely won’t premiere until the end of 2027.
Be sure to check out Night Hunter on Pluto TV in America and Pig on Netflix, and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
