Lowrider culture got started in post-WWII America. The exact birthplace of the lowrider remains up for debate, but the importance of lowrider culture to Chicanos and Mexican Americans is clear.
You need to roll “bajito y suavecito” so everyone can appreciate the amount of love poured into your vehicle. And these vehicles are art. The US Postal Service agrees, as it has released a new commemorative stamp honoring the legendary lowrider.

The US Postal Service held a community event at the Logan Heights Library in San Diego, California, to celebrate the release of the stamps.
“A lowrider is a masterpiece of engineering and artistry, a rolling canvas of art. They are often painted with murals that tell stories of family, faith, and history,” said Gary Barksdale, the Postal Service’s chief postal inspector, who served as the dedicating official. “The lowrider culture is about creating a space to celebrate pride, a sense of belonging, and building a community that is always there for each other.”
You can buy a sheet of the lowrider stamps now. They’re on sale at your local post office, or you can order them online. Each sheet costs $11.70, and each stamp is a Forever Stamp, meaning it’s valid for one ounce of mail regardless of any future price increases.
