Gemini 3 and NotebookLM are two of my favorite tools from the Google suite. I use them often for learning, work, and even for breaking down complex ideas in a simple way. But this time, I wanted to do something purely fun. Lately, I’ve been seeing AI-generated comics all over social media. From story writing to visuals and final layouts, everything is created using AI. Curious to see how practical this really is, I decided to try it myself. In this blog, I document my experiment of creating a full comic using Gemini 3 and NotebookLM from idea to final output. If you’ve ever wondered how AI comics are made, read on to see how it turned out.

    Step 1: Get the Story

I will be using Gemini 3 to get the story. Here’s the prompt I have used:

Create a short comic story about a robot and a human who are in love.

    Requirements:
The story should be no more than 5 comic pages
    Each page should include:
    A page number
A brief scene description (for visuals)
Dialogue or narration suitable for comic panels
Tone should be emotional, warm, and slightly futuristic
Focus on themes of connection, choice, and what it means to be human
Keep it wholesome and sincere, not cheesy
Ending should be bittersweet or hopeful

    Style:
    Simple, cinematic storytelling
    Minimal but meaningful dialogue
    Clear separation between pages
    Do NOT exceed 5 pages.

    Output:

Step 2: Giving the Prompt to NotebookLM

For this task, I will be inserting the story from Gemini in NotebookLM. You ca save it as a doc, share link or just simply cost paste the text in NotebookLM notebook. I went with the third option in my case. Then, I gave this prompt in the chat:

    NotebookLM Prompts

I am providing you with a short story/script below. Your task is to convert this content into a comic format.

    Requirements:
Create a comic storyboard, not prose
Limit the comic to a maximum of 5 pages
For each page, clearly specify: Page number, Panel breakdown (e.g., Panel 1, Panel 2, etc.), Visual description for each panel (characters, setting, emotions, actions), Dialogue or narration inside each panel

Keep the tone consistent with the original content
Do NOT add new plot points or characters
    Do NOT exceed 5 pages

10 More Prompts for Creating Comics

Below are 10 fully detailed story-generation prompts with broader themes ranging from kids to teens to mythology and fantasy. These are story-only prompts, suitable for Gemini or any LLM, and align well with comic creation later.

    Children’s Story: Courage and Friendship

Create a short comic story for children about a shy child who befriends an unusual companion (an animal, magical creature, or robot). The story should focus on overcoming fear, learning to speak up, and the power of friendship. Use simple language, clear emotions, and gentle humor. Each scene should show a small challenge the child faces and how their companion helps them grow braver. The ending should be warm and reassuring, showing that courage does not mean being fearless, but trying anyway.

    Children’s Story: Learning Responsibility

Write a short comic story about a child who is given responsibility for something important for the first time, such as caring for a pet, guarding a magical object, or helping a younger sibling. The story should show mistakes, learning moments, and gradual improvement. Keep the tone light and encouraging. The ending should emphasize growth, accountability, and pride in doing something right after struggling.

    Teen Story: Identity and Belonging

Create a comic story about a teenager who feels out of place at school or in their community and discovers a hidden talent, secret world, or unexpected role that helps them understand who they are. The story should explore self-doubt, peer pressure, and the desire to belong. Show moments of internal conflict as well as quiet victories. The ending should be hopeful, showing acceptance of oneself rather than external validation.

    Sci-Fi: Memory and Choice

Create a comic story set in a future where memories can be edited or erased. The protagonist must decide whether to delete a painful memory or keep it. The story should explore the value of pain, learning, and emotional authenticity. Keep the plot grounded and introspective. The ending should emphasize personal choice and acceptance rather than technological perfection.

    Mythology: A Test of Character

Create a mythological comic story where a human is unknowingly tested by divine beings through everyday situations rather than epic battles. The story should show small acts of kindness, honesty, or sacrifice being observed and judged. The reveal should come near the end, showing that character matters more than strength or intelligence.

    Conclusion

Creating comics with AI is no longer complicated or intimidating. By using Gemini 3 for story generation and NotebookLM for structuring those stories into comic-ready formats, the entire process becomes simple, fast, and surprisingly enjoyable. Gemini helps you focus on ideas and emotions, while NotebookLM turns those ideas into clear scenes and panels without changing the original story. Together, they form an easy workflow for anyone who wants to experiment with AI-generated comics, whether for learning, content creation, or pure fun.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Do I need drawing or design skills to create AI-generated comics?

    A. No. This workflow focuses on story creation and comic structuring. Visual generation tools handle the artwork based on descriptions.

    A. Yes. The prompts range from children’s stories to teen narratives and mythology-inspired themes, allowing you to tailor content to specific audiences.
