Ford Is Selling an Ultra-Rare GT Heritage Edition Straight From Its Collection

Ford’s Heritage Collection is home to some of the rarest vehicles ever produced by the Blue Oval. Even though it’s not the most robust collection, there are a handful of hidden gems—like the original sixth-generation Bronco prototype, the world’s only V-10-powered Mustang, and a some rare Ford GT supercars.

Now, for the first time, Ford is offering one of these exceptionally rare vehicles to the public. The automaker will send its 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition to auction at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Fall 2025 sale in Scottsdale, Arizona. And it will cross the block with no reserve.

This particular GT Heritage Edition is one of just 343 examples built for the 2006 model year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ford’s historic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. It features the iconic Gulf livery—painstakingly applied by hand, including the roundels.

Under the hood is the same supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 found in all stock Ford GT models of the era. Producing 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, it’s paired with a six-speed manual transmission, as God intended. The interior is trimmed in black leather with subtle retro-inspired accents to complement the exterior’s design.

This particular car is the third GT Heritage Edition ever built and was used sparingly for marketing and media purposes. It does have a bit of history, however, with minor damage to the rear and undercarriage. That said, both issues were repaired to Ford’s quality standards.

With just 8,345 miles on the odometer, this GT is one of the least-driven examples we’ve ever seen. The winning bidder will receive a certificate of authenticity along with a build book that documents the car’s production in detail—from start to finish.

Proceeds from the sale will go directly back into supporting Ford’s Heritage Collection, which consists of over 500 vehicles that require regular maintenance and upkeep—no cheap endeavor. While it’s hard to predict exactly what this rare GT will bring—especially with no reserve—previous Heritage Editions have sold for anywhere between $680,000 and $1.2 million.

We expect this one to land closer to the $1 million mark.
