A car detailing expert has revealed what he says are some of the best products you can buy to clean and care for your vehicle—and the secret is that you can find them all in one place.

Content creator @thatdtailguy, who regularly posts car detailing hacks and tutorials, told his followers that O’Reilly Auto Parts stands out from its competitors when it comes to professional-grade supplies.

In a recent video, he said there’s “one thing” that makes O’Reilly different, before giving viewers a guided tour of the store and pointing out his favorite finds.

As he peruses the store, he shares his go-to products and where to find them—dropping insider tips for anyone looking to get the most out of their car wash routine. As of this writing, the video has garnered over 559,000 views.

Where Can I Find The Products—And What Are They?

In his walkthrough, @thatdtailguy highlights several products that he says every car owner should know about—starting with E-Z Shine, a cleaner he says delivers reliable results, and “Dark Fury,” which he recommends for tires. Another favorite is Muscle Magic, which he describes as “just a nice degreaser” that “gets the job done.”

He also points to Superior Products’ Pink Perfection, calling it his “absolute favorite.”

The multipurpose cleaner, he explains, works on everything from carpets and interior leather to bugs on the front of your car—and typically costs under $20 a gallon. For especially stubborn brake dust, he suggests grabbing a jug of Aluminum Brightener.

“What really separates O’Reilly is you can walk in here and get any of this stuff for five gallons,” he says. “This is a great place to buy real detailing products.”

But he also shares one final tip that surprised many viewers. The best detailing products, he claims, aren’t sitting on the shelves at all—they’re tucked away behind the counter.

“They’re not over there,” he says, gesturing toward the aisles. “They’re behind the counter.”

Then, sneaking behind a register, he gives followers a peek at what he calls O’Reilly’s hidden treasure trove for car detailers. “We don’t gatekeep here,” he adds.

What Are The Best Car Detailing Products?

If you want to detail your car like a pro, there’s no single “best” product. That said, a few brands consistently come up among detailers and enthusiasts for reportedly delivering professional results without breaking the bank.

According to Car and Driver, Chemical Guys and Meguiar’s are among the most trusted names, with complete care kits that include everything from wax and wash soaps to microfiber towels and applicators.

For more affordable yet professional-grade products, Car and Driver reports that detailers often reach for Meguiar’s, specifically its Interior Detailer Cleaner, which has a strong reputation for giving your vehicle a quick clean at a low cost.

If you’re looking to take your detailing a bit further, Remax Auto Concepts recommends CarPro, a brand known for its coatings. Other car experts suggest using high-pH soap, such as Labokitzka’s Primus, which is great for stripping away buildup before polishing.

Together, these products make up a lineup that covers everything to help a car look brand new. And you can indeed find great products at O’Reilly, in particular, as other content creators confirmed.

    People Doubt Detailing Experts’ Claims

Viewers weren’t entirely convinced by @thatdtailguy’s claim that O’Reilly Auto Parts was the best place to shop for detailing supplies. In the comments, some pushed back, saying the retailer’s products were overpriced or not as high-end as he made them out to be.

“If you’re not supposed to know about it, why is Superior still [doing] business with O’REILLY’S?? I would make sure my product is out front and well seen,” one viewer wrote, questioning the secrecy behind the so-called “hidden” products.

Another commenter shared their own bad experience, saying, “O’Reilly’s sucks, they sold me a defective thermostat and had to take it to the shop after it overheated.”

Others piled on, criticizing the store’s prices.

“O’Reilly’s is the most expensive place you’ve ever walked in,” one person said. “I will only walk into an O’Reilly’s when it’s an emergency.”

Another dismissed the recommendation altogether, writing, “It’s not a secret, nor is the product that good.”

Still, plenty of people came to @thatdtailguy’s defense. Some said they’ve had great experiences buying detailing supplies there and agreed that O’Reilly’s carries products that serious car enthusiasts swear by.

“O’Reilly is so underrated,” one supporter commented.

“Yessir, that’s where I get my detail stuff from,” another chimed in.

A third joked, “Bro is letting the secrets out.”
