Ford on Thursday unveiled both the name and starting price of its upcoming electric truck. The Ford Fathom will start at just under $30,000, making it one of the most affordable electric pickup trucks coming to the US market. While the automaker didn’t show off what it will look like, the Fathom will have a standard-range battery, five seats and Ford’s BlueCruise driver assistance, as well as Apple Maps integration. BlueCruise is Ford’s version of AutoPilot, providing a hands-free driving experience in designated areas called “Blue Zones” on certain highways. The Fathom’s announcement follows Ford’s $5 billion investment last summer in…
A new entry in Capcom’s cult-classic Onimusha franchise has been a long time coming, and there was no better time than now for its resurgence, during the developer’s largely successful RE Engine era.So far, it seems that the resurgence will pay off extremely well: I spent three hours with the upcoming demon-hunting slasher, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and I came away absolutely amazed by just how well Capcom has taken the formula from previous entries and modernized it brilliantly.Onimusha: Way of the Sword absolutely shines within every combat encounter, with its weighty, methodical, and stylish sword clashes. It very…
Thousands of Internet-connected servers sold by the world’s biggest manufacturers can be remotely backdoored by exploiting critical vulnerabilities—some more than a decade old—that lurk deep inside system motherboards, according to research presented Wednesday. Baseboard management controllers are miniature computers that are embedded into the motherboards of virtually every enterprise server. The microcontrollers, typically abbreviated as BMCs, run with their own operating system firmware, network stack, and IP address. Administrators rely on them to monitor the physical status of large fleets of servers and to perform a variety of tasks, including rebooting machines, installing updates, and even reinstalling operating systems. BMCs…
Apple’s iCloud Private Relay feature is designed to obscure your web traffic so sites like advertisers, unscrupulous governments or malicious attackers can’t trace that traffic back to you. But it turns out the mechanism isn’t actually as private as Apple says. As reported by 404 Media, security researchers at software company Mysk discovered that even with iCloud Private Relay active, the IP address of a device or home network can be transmitted, which could be used to reveal a person’s identity or location. iCloud Private Relay is a feature for paid customers of Apple’s iCloud Plus service. It routes web traffic through…

If you have never heard of network-attached storage (NAS), this post is for you. Even if you already know about NAS, you’ll probably learn a thing or two. It’ll explain, in simple terms, the general NAS concept and its significance in data redundancy and safekeeping. For those who want to dabble in this world of network-based storage, there’s also a basic guide on accessing your server from a Windows or Mac computer. From there, you can slowly move up to the myriads of other sophisticated applications afforded by a good NAS server. Dong’s note: I first published this post on November…
Big anniversary, big screens? Apple might bump up the display size of the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max next year as the company celebrates the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, according to an insider. Digital Chat Station, an anonymous but well-regarded source of tech leaks, shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo that the iPhone 20 Pro could feature a 6.4-inch display, while the iPhone 20 Pro Max could come with a 7-inch screen. Although the account holder’s identity has never been publicly confirmed, Digital Chat Station has built a reputation for providing reliable information about upcoming devices. Apple…
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has paused new data center connections to the state’s grid pending audits on the requirements for new and proposed constructions. The audits will cover the revenue lost from data center tax exemptions, power usage and generation, infrastructure upgrades, water usage, and the impact on the local communities and environment.Texans have seen their electricity and water bills increase significantly over the past five years. Data from Electric Choice shows the average residential electricity price has risen by over 25%, and data from the Texas Municipal League demonstrates the average residential water bill has risen by over 26%.But…
This post will explain the “Guest” notion in a Wi-Fi network and how to use that properly. To cut to the chase: A Guest Wi-Fi network is a special Internet-only SSID for short-term use. While it’s a handy feature, it’s not intended as a security measure, and using it for your own devices can cause unexpected issues. Dong’s note: I first published this piece on July 8, 2020, and last updated it on August 3, 2026, with the latest relevant information. You won’t be able to set up or use a local IP camera, such as those used for your…
