Google might have been officially ruled to have a monopoly, but we’re still a long way from figuring out exactly what that determination will change at the tech company. Today, the US Department of Justice filed notice of a plan to cross-appeal the decision last fall that Google would not be required to sell off the its Chrome browser. The agency’s Antitrust Division posted about the action on X. According to Bloomberg, a group of states is also joining the appeal filing. At the time of the 2025 ruling, the Justice Department had pushed for a Chrome sale to be part…
For years, rumors have swirled that Apple has been toiling away on a foldable iPhone, nicknamed the iPhone Fold. Over the last year, numerous leaks have suggested that it could actually be released in 2026. The latest rumor, from an analyst note seen by MacRumors, suggests Apple’s foldable could launch with 12GB of RAM, the same amount in the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s starting configuration. That could mean Apple doesn’t need a lot of memory to handle multiple screens or that it isn’t banking on big AI features that can take up a lot of RAM.But most of the curiosity has been…

TP-Link’s Deco 7 Pro BE63, also known as Deco 7 Pro BE11000, is a mid-tier Wi-Fi 7 mesh system formerly known as the Deco 63. As if that’s confusing enough, it’s also available as the Deco BE65 Pro at some retailers, such as Best Buy, and then the outdoor version is the Deco 7 BE65 Outdoor. As I have already done the in-depth review of the Deco 7 Elite BE85. This preview will help you understand how this lesser alternative compares to its higher-end older cousin. After all, as Decos, they are very similar. The quick takeaway is that, at the current…
According to independent researcher Kevin Beaumont, three organizations told him that devices inside their networks that had Notepad++ installed experienced “security incidents” that “resulted in hands on keyboard threat actors,” meaning the hackers were able to take direct control using a web-based interface. All three of the organizations, Beaumont said, have interests in East Asia. The researcher explained that his suspicions were aroused when Notepad++ version 8.8.8 introduced bug fixes in mid-November to “harden the Notepad++ Updater from being hijacked to deliver something… not Notepad++.” The update made changes to a bespoke Notepad++ updater known as GUP, or alternatively, WinGUP.…
Buying a good budget phone can be a challenge. High-end handsets continue to get more features, but on the other end of the spectrum, there are only so many things you can skimp on before a device becomes too compromised. With the Galaxy A17, Samsung is trying to balance both sides of that equation with something that sports a solid design, a bright screen, decent cameras and respectable battery life for just $200. And despite some flaws, the company has succeeded at making a capable phone that fits into almost every budget.SamsungEven though its processor is a bit dated, for…
The LARQ Bottle PureVis 2 has become my emotional support water bottle, specifically thanks to its hydration-tracking feature. Anna Gragert/CNET Any time I felt tired growing up, one of the first questions my mom would ask me was, “Have you been drinking enough water?” On top of this, I’ve been a wellness writer for the last decade, which has further cemented my knowledge of just how important it is to maintain adequate hydration every day. Yet, I’d never actually kept track of the amount of water I drank. I assumed my body would tell me when it was thirsty and…

Dyson PencilVac: two-minute reviewThe Dyson PencilVac looks nothing like any vacuum I’ve seen before. All the mechanisms – the motor, filters, battery, and even the dust cup – are hidden within the handle, which measures just 1.5 inches / 3.8cm in diameter. That isn’t the only unique thing about the PencilVac: the floorhead is also very quirky, with its four, fluffy, conical rollers rotating in opposite directions to lift…
Software developers have spent the past two years watching AI coding tools evolve from advanced autocomplete into something that can, in some cases, build entire applications from a text prompt. Tools like Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex can now work on software projects for hours at a time, writing code, running tests, and, with human supervision, fixing bugs. OpenAI says it now uses Codex to build Codex itself, and the company recently published technical details about how the tool works under the hood. It has caused many to wonder: Is this just more AI industry hype, or are things…
Grok is once again available in Indonesia, after the country lifted its ban on the AI chatbot that was seen generating millions of sexualized deepfakes, thousands of which included children. The country’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs released a statement earlier today, which said X is allowed to resume service in Indonesia but will be subject to monitoring for any future violations.According to the Indonesian government agency, X provided a letter that detailed several implemented measures that prevent the misuse of its Grok chatbot. Alexander Sabar, the ministry’s director general of digital space supervision, said in the statement that…
