Back in May 2025, Jacob Harris was half-asleep in bed at his East Vancouver home when a big idea hit him. Earlier in the week, his partner Karoline Moore had brought home lino printing supplies from a craft club night she attended with friends. Moore and Harris used the supplies for an at-home date night doing the same: carving designs into linoleum blocks that were then used to stamp those designs onto paper with ink. As Harris drifted off, he thought about something Moore said about linocut being used in propaganda to “get messages out quickly.” Amid that hazy space…

Octopath Traveler 0 is now the third main game in the series that began Square Enix’s “HD-2D” renaissance, taking both cult-classic and classically styled RPGs and imbuing them with a particular visual look and feel that pays homage to the heyday of 16-bit RPG excellence. Octopath itself has been iterated on enough that it’s forged its own identity within that framework, giving Octopath Traveler 0 the freedom to break some of its own conventions and iterate on others. It’s a reimagining of what an Octopath game means, and more than that, an excellent game in its own right.Octopath Traveler 0…

I’m one of the many Elden Ring Nightreign players who’s been begging for DLC for months. Once it was finally revealed, I was a bit disappointed at how small it seemed. Fortunately, three new pieces of information have convinced me that I have been underestimating FromSoftware’s upcoming The Forsaken Hollows DLC. According to a new interview, it’ll be harder than the main game, feature a bigger reworking of the map than previously thought, and include the introduction of the Dark Souls studio’s signature poison swamps. Since the summer, it’s felt like the only way to really revitalize Nightreign was by…

Extraction shooter Escape from Tarkov launched into 1.0 last month, nine years after it first became playable via early access in 2016. Like its genre peers, it throws players into combat zones where they fight to obtain loot and to get out alive. No extraction, no reward. Though its full release was in November, a Dec. 1 patch added the Terminal map. It’s the game’s last map, and finally allows players to fully escape from Tarkov. However, escaping isn’t as simple as it sounds — only one person has done so as of this writing. Streamer Tigz takes the crown…

GameSpot may receive revenue from affiliate and advertising partnerships for sharing this content and from purchases through links. Like the seemingly unending comic book movie craze, Hollywood loves to find a type of film that it can turn into the next big cultural touchstone. Over the years, we’ve seen movies based on video games attempt to reach that level, with varying levels of success. We’ve seen adaptations of games for decades, but, to be fair, a lot of these were awful adaptations. Many of them missed the point of the source material and were clumsily executed–although we’ll always have a…
