Hideo Kojima dropped a new bit of lore over the weekend: the renowned designer has “always” suffered from nightmares. As he wrote on Twitter, Kojima stumbled upon old dream logs in his phone’s notes while preparing to deliver the first keynote address in five years at the upcoming GDC Festival of Gaming 2026. Suggested to him as a remedy, jotting down his dreams proved to be ineffective in relieving Kojima of his nightmares. However, the notes grant us some insight into the subconscious of one of the most influential game designers of his time, in the form of two snapshots…
Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation sensation KPop Demon Hunters nabbed two wins at the 2026 Golden Globes last night. The first was for its smash-hit song “Golden,” which took home the award for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture, beating out nominees like Wicked: For Good’s “No Place Like Home,” and “The Girl in a Bubble” as well as Sinners’ “I Lied to You.” However, it wasn’t just the film’s music that got Sony Animation and Netflix a win. KPop Demon Hunters also took home a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, beating out its fellow demon-heavy rival, the…

Jackson, releases January 13 exclusively at Amazon for $40. 1408 Limited Edition Steelbook is a three-disc set with theatrical and extended cuts of the hit film. GameStop has been in hot water for some time now. But the company’s CEO, Ryan Cohen, should come away relatively unscathed, because, thanks to CNN, we now know he will score a $35 billion payout if the storefront hits a $100 billion market cap. One small issue: that’s about 10 times its current value. How is Cohen planning on getting it there? Thanks to a Polygon report, we know that he intends to close hundreds of stores and to offer customers a 20 percent trade-in bonus via a QR code. Although we don’t have concrete numbers on exactly how many…
Despite Abrams and his team’s Herculean efforts to deliver a massive blockbuster spectacle that could also neatly tie together three trilogies’ worth of story and character, The Rise of Skywalker was an abject failure. The movie was panned by fans and critics alike, and performed worse at the box office than Episodes VII or VIII. To quote the director’s prophetic interview again: “Sticking this landing is one of the harder jobs that I could have taken.” Abrams has essentially gone into hiding ever since, ensconced in a nebulous $500 million contract with Warner Bros. that’s yet to yield anything tangible…

Heartopia, the new cosy life sim from XD Games, has officially arrived on mobile, right on schedule. If you’ve been keeping up with Heartopia news, you’re likely already aware that the game has pushed back its Steam release to an indeterminate point in 2026. Doesn’t look like it mattered much, however, as this has already been a big launch on iOS and Android — it probably helps that PC players aren’t being entirely left out of the fun, since the game is already available there via XD’s own cross-device platform TapTap. The sale of Polygon to a Canadian pornographer last year might have felt to some at the popular gaming website like being NPCs in a Hitman level. A cloak-and-dagger procession of NDAs clued in some of the staff to an ominous change in ownership coming in the days ahead, but no one knew who else knew, or the full details of what the sale would entail. “I didn’t know how many people were under NDA,” Polygon‘s former deputy editor Maddy Myers recently told me (full disclosure: Myers was also previously the deputy editor of Kotaku). “I didn’t know who knew…
