One of Mario Kart World‘s big novelties is a open world map of race coursers that connect to one another. Instead of isolated tracks, racing to the next course across open highways is part of competing. This has made for some mixed results in traditional Grand Prix mode where old-school fans prefer the “purity” of traditional closed circuit loops but it’s also highlighted what’s so fun about the game’s new Knockout Tour mode. A new free update is doubling-down on that by introducing team battles as well. The way Knockout Tour works is that the bottom group of performers get…

When I first sat down with Bowen “Monsoon” Fuller, we were both out of breath. Moments earlier, he and his teammates on team Oblivion had just pulled off the unthinkable: winning the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 5 Championship in Sapporo, Japan. On the fourth and final day of the competition, Fuller and his team had miraculously beat out Philip “ImperialHal” Dosen’s Team Falcons, who were highly favored to win and had maintained their number-one spot throughout the first three days of the event, but lost to Oblivion in a shocking ninth and final match on the last day.…

Return to Silent Hill, a live-action film adaptation of Konami’s beloved Silent Hill 2, hits theaters later this week. Early reviews for the horror flick are as scary as any monster from the games. First announced in 2022, Return to Silent Hill releases on January 23. It isn’t connected to the past two Silent Hill movies, even though it was directed by the first film’s Christophe Gans, and is instead a loose adaptation of the PS2-era survival horror classic Silent Hill 2. Marketing for this film has been minimal to say the least, partially because it seems the executives involved…

Just about all Silksong players can agree on one thing, whether or not they played the original Hollow Knight: The game is pretty freakin’ hard. Developer Team Cherry addressed the game’s difficulty at the September opening of a gaming exhibition at Australia’s Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) museum, sharing insight into just why the new game is proving so challenging. “Hornet is inherently faster and more skillful than the Knight — so even the base level enemy had to be more complicated, more intelligent,” Silksong co-director Ari Gibson said (via Dexerto). Co-director William Pellen added, “In contrast to…

I’m nearing the climactic finale of TR-49, a puzzling narrative deduction game from Expelled developer Inkle. My brain has reached a state of overdrive as all those cryptic notes unearthed on a glitching computer are starting to make sense. Or, at least, I think they are. By the five-hour mark, It feels like I’m speaking another language altogether, one I can only understand in fragments. My mind now thinks in four-digit codes, but the one I need to put an end to everything still eludes me. It’s as I’m frantically flipping through a database, like a tourist searching their pocket…

Battlefield 6’s promised, season-extending update has been officially detailed. The patch, version 1.1.3.5, arrives tomorrow, January 20 right when Season 1 was supposed to end. Part of the update’s goal is to extend the current season, until Season 2 kicks off in the middle of February.
