Last year, Asahi Breweries revealed its new canned cocktail called the Mirai no Lemon Sour. Who better to market than the one-winged angel himself? That’s apparently a thought that crept into the head of someone on the beer company’s marketing team, and all I can say is, “Hell yeah.” Asahi’s new collaboration with Square Enix was revealed by Famitsu, and it comes complete with the Final Fantasy VII villain using his super-long Masamune to chop up some lemons for the shochu-based cocktail. Korn, the nu metal band that helped pioneer the heavy rock genre, has a new song that’s inspired by the grind of Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo games. It’s the first new music from Korn in four years, and arrives with a grisly new animated video timed to the release of the Diablo 4 expansion Lord of Hatred. It’s a sensible pairing. Korn and Diablo are both products of the ’90s, and each trades in dark, violent imagery and the cathartic release of pent-up energy. Korn frontman Jonathan Davis also just happens to be something of a Diablo enthusiast himself. He plays…

Ever since 2015’s Until Dawn, I’ve been a big fan of Supermassive Games. From wincing as Rami Malek meets a grizzly end at the hands of a buzzsaw in Until Dawn, to fleeing an undead monstrosity in Man of Medan years later, the Guildford-based team has always excelled in delivering thrilling, cinematic scares that I enjoy. It’s why I came into my preview session with high hopes for the studio’s fifth outing, Directive 8020. Yet after finally going hands-on with Supermassive’s first foray into sci-fi, my bizarrely brief demo left me feeling more underwhelmed than terrified.Part of Supermassive’s ongoing anthology…

Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on…

It’s Alien Day, and this year Creative Assembly and Sega have a special present for Xenoheads everywhere: a new teaser for the upcoming Alien: Isolation 2.  The brief video, titled “False Sense of Security” on YouTube, offers a fresh glimpse into the ominous world of the game. A dark, creaking room opens up to reveal a dilapidated alien base soaked in rain, followed by a cut to the iconic emergency phone booth that serves as a save station throughout Alien: Isolation. While it isn’t a ton to go off of, it does suggest the sequel might take place in a…
