It’s become a recurring theme, but the legal drama between the leaders of Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds and its parent company Krafton isn’t over. For a lot of folks who have been following Capcom’s fighting games over the years, the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics announcement was unbelievable given recent events and the reception of the last Marvel vs Capcom game. As someone who has only played Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, I had always wanted to play the earlier games given the praise a few of them got from competitive and casual players. I’d be lying if I said I also wasn’t just excited to hear the Marvel vs Capcom 2 music officially because it is…

Crimson Desert is a champion bodybuilder of a video game. Its gigantic world bulges with incredible scale, with shining graphical fidelity and a muscular combat system which excels at pulling poses with an undeniably impressive wealth of options. However, it lacks the connective sinew to be truly functional, with maddening systems and genuinely odd characterisation hinting at grinding joints and an enlarged heart under the hood, ready to pop. What’s most frustrating, and fascinating, about Crimson Desert is that it could genuinely be one of the best games of the generation, if only it underwent a full revamp of 99%…

Crimson Desert basically came out of nowhere to become one of the most-hyped games of the spring. Impressive visuals and a sprawling open world catapulted the not-RPG to the top of the Steam wishlist charts. Now, just a day before the game hits digital store shelves for download, reviews are out in the wild and collectively they sound like a big bubble just popped. While some people love it, others aren’t impressed with the lack of a strong story and all the bland, bloated systems. Out March 19 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Crimson Desert is a…

Pokemon Pokopia channels the spirit of Animal Crossing with fruit trees, a tranquil atmosphere, and talking creatures. It scratches the familiar “cozy game” itch that Animal Crossing: New Horizons did with its homebuilding, crafting, and focus on giving players complete agency over a vast and vibrant land. From tree and river placement to what creatures are permitted to inhabit your own personal paradise, these games share quite a lot in common–even if Pokopia’s ability to “catch ‘em all,” albeit with habitats instead of Poke Balls, shakes the formula up a bit. But, despite how similar these series are, they diverge…

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics ($49.99) As a fan of Marvel, Capcom, and fighting games back in the 1990s, Capcom’s line of fighters based on Marvel’s characters were like a dream come true. Starting off with the excellent X-Men: Children of the Atom, these games just kept getting bigger and better. Moving on to the wider Marvel Universe with Marvel Super Heroes, then the at-the-time unbelievable crossovers between Marvel and Street Fighter, on to the over the top Marvel vs. Capcom, and then the wildly over-the-top in all the right ways Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom kept raising…

Embark Studios, maker of The Finals and Arc Raiders, was formed back in 2018 by former veterans of Battlefield maker DICE. It’s now parted ways with one of those cofounders, CCO Rob Runesson, following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with an esports streamer involved with one of the studio’s games. Embark said the decision was mutual despite an outside investigate being unable to substantiate the allegations after they first spread on social media. “Our leadership team was recently made aware of allegations against an Embark employee,” the studio told IGN in a statement. “We take these matters seriously, and as…
