What happens when a tired and neglected BMW 5 Series comes face to face with mother nature? As you might expect, nothing good. An F10 BMW 5 Series sat just on the outskirts of Lake Erie in New York has rather rapidly become the “coolest” BMW we’ve seen in a while: you might even go as far as to call it frozen. We would, because one look inside reveals an interior that’s more reminiscent of an ice cave than the lap of luxury the car was over a decade ago.The abandoned BMW — which was reportedly stolen out of nearby…
Americans love loud cars, and Honda is taking that into consideration. Honda’s next-generation hybrid system will sound different in the United States. It sounds much better than the new Prelude. Hybrids aren’t known for sounding the best, often prioritizing everyday usability over auditory pleasure. But Americans are built different; we want our hybrids to sound good. Honda, which has been producing hybrids since 1999, is developing its next-generation hybrid system that’ll hit our streets with a specific exhaust tune. A Honda engineer revealed to CarBuzz that the upcoming powertrain will be louder in the United States. They said, “Americans…

BMW is not afraid of pushing the envelope when it comes to design, tech and engineering, so it comes as no surprise that a new patent has taken everyone by surprise. Filled with WIPO, this new patent shows a fastener concept that’s clever, unmistakably branded, and seemingly engineered to make basic access more exclusive than sometimes it needs to be.The schematics show BMW experimenting with proprietary screw heads modeled after the company’s roundel. Instead of reaching for familiar Torx or hex hardware, the design uses a circular head split into four quadrants, mirroring the emblem’s layout and quadrant detailing. The…
Honda says it has ‘no plans at the moment’ to produce a Type S or Type R Prelude. That doesn’t close the door on a potential Prelude Si. Honda could reveal a peppier Prelude at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon. Despite rumors to the contrary, Honda has no current plans to deliver a Type S or Type R variant of the new Prelude. I wouldn’t necessarily call this shocking news, but I don’t think it’s reason to believe more sporting versions of the Prelude aren’t still to come. According to a report from CarScoops, there was some initial chatter of a…
The fifth-generation Kia Sportage has been with us since 2021, and after its update in 2024 the dramatic new face of this top-selling Korean mid-size SUV has had some time to blend in on Australian roads.Last year’s update brought about some chopping and changing, with the range-opening manual variants axed, additional hybrid models added, interior tech overhauled, and prices bumped up.Kia has left most of that unchanged as the new year rolls around – those were only introduced five months ago, after all – except for prices. Some variants are now more expensive than they were before, including the 2026 Kia Sportage…
Some cars are important because of what they are. Others matter because of who owned them. On rare occasions, those two narratives intersect. We’ve got a good one today: a rock-star owned BMW M1. The BMW M1 is arguably a cornerstone of both the BMW and M brands. As the first true M vehicle, it casts a nearly inescapable shadow on every car that followed it. Meanwhile, Roger Waters is responsible for some of the most recognizable Pink Floyd songs to ever be concocted. And it’s his BMW M1 that crosses the auction block over at RM Sotheby’s in just…
For as fast as they are on the track, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown understands that Formula 1 teams are slow embrace the outside world. In the era of the show Drive to Survive, Brown recognizes that teams have to open their doors in more ways than one. With a background in marketing, Brown is a master at this. And that’s why, whether it’s a sci-fi epic or even F1’s very own feature film, there’s a chance you may spot McLaren’s Woking-based headquarters on screen. This is very much by design. McLaren Technology Centre Wind Tunnel Formula 1 thrives in cinematics,…
A hotter Honda Prelude Type R is far from imminent after a spokesperson from the Japanese automaker poured cold water on the idea when questioned by the media. The Prelude name will return to Australia in 2026 for the first time in 25 years with the new sixth-generation model, presented at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo last October and scheduled to land mid-year.The sole Prelude powertrain shown so far is a slightly more potent (147kW/315Nm) version of the 2.0-litre hybrid drivetrain with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT), as found in the Civic and best-selling CR-V SUV.The new Prelude uses…
