If EV sales are a race, then the BMW Group is clearly winning. Well, at least in Europe. About a quarter of all cars sold on the continent last year didn’t have a combustion engine. That’s right: one in four vehicles delivered in 2025 was fully electric. Europe is leading the charge (pun intended) for the company, considering the global EV share stands at 18%. On the continent, that figure rose to 25% once MINI and Rolls-Royce electric car sales were factored in.The BMW Group’s strategy of offering a diversified lineup of plug-in hybrids is also paying off. When EVs…
BMW says the 4 Series is a ‘very important car for us.’ The company confirmed that a new version will debut alongside the next 3 Series. It should have both gas and electric powertrain options. For years, there’s been talk that the BMW 4 Series might be living on borrowed time. But based on new information, that doesn’t seem to be the case at all. While some competitors are scaling back their two-door offerings—or dropping them entirely—BMW is making it clear that the 4 Series isn’t going anywhere. BMW’s team in Munich is already working on the next-generation 4 Series,…
Australia’s new‑vehicle market hit a new record of 1,241,037 sales in 2025, but behind the breakdown of combustion-powered, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric cars, there is data that shows which buyer group was most attracted to which vehicle type.At a high level, buyers are splitting into four distinct camps: battery-electric vehicles (EVs), plug‑in hybrids (PHEVs), hybrids (HEVs), and the still-dominant world of petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles – including mild-hybrids (MHEVs).Based on 2025 volume, that looks like:EVs: 103,270 sales (8.3 per cent of the market) – including just two hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs)PHEVs: 53,484 sales (4.3 per cent) – including a small slice of…
If you’re not already overwhelmed by the sheer number of in-car apps, here’s another one to add to the list. On top of the 60-plus third-party apps already available in the ConnectedDrive Store, BMW Group UK is introducing Global Player. The app delivers a broad selection of digital radio stations, along with playlists and podcasts.Because it’s downloadable directly from the app store built into the infotainment system, there’s no need for a smartphone. Global Player isn’t limited to the Neue Klasse SUV, either. It also works in all BMWs and MINIs running the previous-generation infotainment system. More than 180,000 vehicles…
BMW maintains the car as part of its USA Classics Collection. Every 10 years, the McLaren F1 GTR requires a major service. Some knob stole the shift knob several years ago. The McLaren F1 remains high atop the list of the all-time greatest automobiles. It’s a supercar benchmark that designers and engineers still strive to emulate to this day. McLaren also used the F1 in racing throughout the 1990s, and it had quite a successful career. One such example is chassis 17R, which managed an 8th-place finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That car is now owned by…
The Chinese market will now have the updated version of the Honda Fit. Among the photos released, it shows a tiny car featuring a full racing setup, which means that the company will bring a racing version of the Fit. This one is the best-looking trim and race car seen this week. The racy fit has a lowered stance and has white racing wheels, making it different from the other cars seen in the photos. The new racing-fit roof and the hood seem to be made from carbon fiber, and the hood features a prominent air intake sitting on top.…
The Volkswagen T-Roc R has been spied testing ahead of its official unveiling later this year – and its potential Australian showroom arrival in 2028 – as the new performance hero of the second-generation T-Roc small SUV lineup.Regular versions of the new T-Roc – which will continue to rival the Nissan Qashqai, Toyota Corolla Cross and C-HR, and Hyundai Kona – were shown in August 2025, employing mild-hybrid and hybrid powertrains, and the same MQB Evo platform that underpinns the current Volkswagen Golf. While the global reveal included a warmer, sport-focused R-Line variant, the fully fledged T-Roc R performance flagship has…
In 1961 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW’s legacy changed forever. It was here that the brand debuted the first of its “Neue Klasse” — German for New Class — cars. Of course, at the time it was just referred to as the BMW 1500. The “New Class” moniker wouldn’t crop up in BMW’s advertising until 1964. Regardless, the BMW 1500 (and later, the rest of the Neue Klasse cars) became a cornerstone of the brand; it both helped bring the brand back from the brink of extinction and set the foundation for a stable of cars no automaker could…
Honda has revealed a Fit race car concept alongside an updated version of the model in China. It has a slick livery, white wheels, a hood scoop, canards, a front lip spoiler, and a sporty rear wing. Sadly, Honda hasn’t provided any details about the race car. Honda just recently launched an updated version of the Fit in China—and it’s adorable. But hidden in the debut photos was something we weren’t expecting: a Fit race car concept with all the trimmings. The race-ready Fit has a lowered stance, white wheels, and race tires with white lettering. It also…
The BYD Sealion 8 isn’t Australia’s cheapest plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV, but it’s among them.BYD has announced a base price of $56,990 before on-road costs for the large crossover SUV, which translates to a drive-away price of $60,773 in New South Wales. That undercuts the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid ($59,990 before on-roads, $65,430 in NSW) but puts it above the (admittedly significantly smaller) Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid ($45,990 to $49,990 drive-away).CarExpert can save you thousands on a new car.
