The sequel to Jason Statham’s biggest action hit of the last few years just got an exciting update. Statham is set to reprise his role as Adam Clay in a sequel to The Beekeeper, the 2024 revenge thriller that grossed $160 million at the box office and earned scores of 71% from critics and 92% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. After David Ayer directed the original Beekeeper, Timo Tjahjanto has taken his place as the director of The Beekeeper 2, which began production just a few weeks ago. Tjahjanto also took to his personal Instagram not long ago to share the first image of Statham in The Beekeeper 2, which can be found below.

The Beekeeper follows Adam Clay (Statham), a former high-level operative who embarks on a high-level revenge quest when someone close to him is killed. Plot specifics about the sequel are being kept under wraps, but it’s expected to follow a similar story to the original. Jeremy Irons is confirmed to reprise his role as Wallace Westwyld in the sequel, and Marvel/Mission: Impossible veteran Pom Klementieff is also joining the action in The Beekeeper 2. Details about her role are being kept hidden for now.

Timo Tjahjanto is best known for his work directing another famous action sequel, Nobody 2, which stars Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk. After starring in The Beekeeper, Jason Statham reunited with director David Ayer for A Working Man, which co-stars Michael Peña and David Harbour. Statham was extremely busy in 2023, first starring in Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre for Guy Ritchie before featuring in Fast X, Meg 2: The Trench, and even The Expendables 4.

Jason Statham will next star in Shelter, which will be released in theaters on January 30, 2026. The film also stars Harriet Walter (Silo) and Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17), and it follows a man living as a recluse by the sea who sets off a perilous chain of events when he decides to save a young girl. Ric Roman Waugh (Greenland) is directing. Jason Statham’s Mutiny was previously set to be released on January 9 before being delayed to the summer to give the post-production team more time for polishing. Gerard Butler’s Greenland 2: Migration will now be released on January 9.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of The Beekeeper 2 and watch The Beekeeper on Prime Video.
