In what looked like a scene out of a movie, dashcam footage has captured the moment a young driver had more than 20 pursuing police cars in her rear-view mirror.

Footage shared by Dash Cam Owners Australia shows part of a police pursuit in Sydney’s south west which led to the arrest of a 24-year-old female driver.

According to the NSW Police Force, officers attempted to stop a white Toyota Aurion in Rosemeadow at around 9:50pm last Friday (July 24).

The driver allegedly didn’t stop, instead leading police on a 50km-long pursuit through the Campbelltown, Liverpool, Cumberland and Bankstown areas.

She allegedly reached speeds of about 170km/h, though by the time she was caught on this motorist’s dashcam she had slowed down considerably.

Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol and commands in the South West Metropolitan Region, as well as PolAir, were deployed to stop the alleged offender.

Road spikes were deployed on Weeroona Road in Berala, taking out the Toyota’s tyres, though the driver allegedly continued at low speed until finally being stopped on Brunker Road, Yagoona – around 2-3km away.

Police removed the driver from the vehicle, and she allegedly returned negative results to roadside drug and breath tests.

She was charged with driving a motor vehicle with a suspended licence; exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h; driving recklessly or furiously at a dangerous speed; and for leading police on a pursuit without stopping and while driving dangerously.

The driver was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 7 on Saturday, July 25.
