The Boys wrapped its final season in May, but star Jack Quaid has been keeping busy. He voices Superman in My Adventures with Superman, which returned for season three in June, and now he’s set to appear in another hit superhero series next year.
During a panel at Annecy Festival, Invincible creator and showrunner Robert Kirkman shared a clip from the beginning of season 5. It introduces Quaid’s character Gravitator as he uses his gravity manipulation powers to rob a bank and dart between skyscrapers during his getaway.
However, he’s stopped by Invincible (Steven Yeun) who flies up alongside him. As Gravitator levels his gravity-manipulating gun at Invincible, the hero asks “Do you really want to do this?” Gravitator hesitates and then decides he doesn’t actually want to fight one of the most powerful heroes on Earth saying “I saw you on the news. Maybe if it was Rex Splode.”
That’s a smart call given how everyone on Earth has seen what Invincible is capable of when he’s not holding back when the planet was ravaged by an invasion of Invincibles from other dimensions in season 3. Rex Splode (Jason Mantzoukas) actually died fighting an Invincible.
Quaid is the latest major star to add his voice to Prime Video’s hit show, joining Lee Pace, J. K. Simmons, Mark Hamill, and more. The series will have more time to expand the cast and epic story as Prime Video also announced that it has been renewed for a sixth season.
