A PlayStation State of Play may be coming soon, and rumors are certainly growing that it’ll happen next week. Insider NatetheHate gave more credence to these rumors by stating he expected the State of Play to occur on April 16. PlayStation has been decidedly quiet on the matter, but a new official post is the best sign yet of when the next State of Play will be happening.

Despite all of these rumors, there hasn’t been any official word that a State of Play is happening on April 16 (or at all). However, given the number of insiders who claim an April State of Play is happening, the odds keep feeling more likely by the day. Now, thanks to a post from Insomniac Games on X, PlayStation enthusiasts are getting their hopes up even more.

Is Marvel’s Wolverine Hinting At A State Of Play?

Insomniac Games shared a post about Marvel’s Wolverine, its upcoming PS5 exclusive. The highly-anticipated game is set to release in September, and the latest post on X once again reiterates that there’s “More info planned for this Spring.” But, as a number of responses have noted, spring is already here.

This has led to numerous comments either asking or speculating that Insomniac’s post is hinting at the State of Play for next week. Perhaps Insomniac is reminding everyone of the game before the broadcast gets announced. Or maybe it’s all one big coincidence.

While the timing of Insomniac’s post is a bit suspicious, it doesn’t confirm anything other than the Marvel’s Wolverine release date and that more info will be shared in the spring (both of which we already knew). Of course, spring doesn’t technically end until late June, so we could realistically see more from Marvel’s Wolverine at any point over the next couple of months.

An April State Of Play Feels Increasingly Likely

The last State of Play was in February, and Marvel’s Wolverine was notably absent, although Insomniac Games announced its release date separately in February as well. It’s possible, then, that Marvel’s Wolverine will get its own standalone State of Play, similar to how several first-party titles for PlayStation have gotten one in the past.

Is that the State of Play for April? Only time will tell. We know a deep dive on Stranger Than Heaven is on its way in May, so an April PlayStation State of Play focusing on Marvel’s Wolverine would be nice. These broadcasts usually get announced a day or two in advance, so if there is a stream coming next week, we probably won’t hear about it until Tuesday or Wednesday.
