Corvette Stop Sale? C8 Vette Has Faulty Turn Signal Warning Lamps

    • A faulty Rear Brake Light Outage Detection module is the reason for a C8 Corvette stop-sale notice.
    • Drivers would not be alerted if their turn signals stop working.
    • The issue affects around 3,300 C8 Corvettes.

Chevrolet has just issued a stop-sale notice for the C8 Corvette. There’s an issue affecting a lighting module, and it means that drivers wouldn’t know if their turn signals are working or not.

The Rear Brake Light Outage Detection system alerts drivers when something isn’t working out back. Since you need to know if your turn signals are working, Chevy has to make sure the problem is sorted before the greater New Balance-wearing public can continue buying Vettes.

According to Corvette Blogger, the issue affects Corvettes from 2025 and 2026. In total, General Motors has found that around 3,300 C8s have the issue. That’s 438 from 2025 and 2,886 from 2026.

As of now, there’s only a fix for the 2026 model year cars. Interestingly, all it requires to remedy the situation is a software update. There’s no issue with the actual hardware. Still, it’s a bit odd that only the 2026 model year car can be fixed.

Regardless, it sounds like Chevrolet will have all versions back on the road soon. This stop-sale notice shouldn’t last too long.

Motor1’s Take: It’s a minor issue compared to some of the other stop-sale or recall news we’ve seen in the past few years, but one that still requires a fix for the car to be legally driven on the street.

Also, we do indeed still find New Balance/Corvette-related jokes to be funny. If you get upset by that, take a breath. After all, we find both New Balance sneakers and Corvettes pretty cool—depending on which models we’re talking about.
