Sandy Dish – GIRLS WON’T SHUT UP

Sandy Dish are a high-energy punk band from Melbourne, Australia, known for their sharp humour, chaotic live shows and no-filter attitude. Formed in 2018, the five-piece — Brook Storti (vocals), Andy O’Connor and Lachlan Meager (guitars), Tiffany Fowler (bass), and Willis Hugisloot (drums) — first introduced themselves with a tongue-in-cheek demo release that immediately established their irreverent tone. Since then, they’ve dropped multiple EPs including God Might Be Gay (2020) and Album (2021), weathered lockdown-era delays, and built a reputation for riotous performances and bold personality. Their 2025 album JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT MUSIC COULDN’T GET ANY BETTER continues that trajectory, cementing them as one of Australia’s loudest and most entertaining punk exports — often compared to the punch of Amyl and The Sniffers with a dash of Wet Leg’s wit.

“GIRLS WON’T SHUT UP” is a 2:07 blast of frenetic rock energy lifted from their 2025 album. The track centers on female friendship, dating frustrations and the shared chaos of navigating relationships — with lyrics tackling selfish exes, late-night calls, and girls rallying around each other post-breakup. There’s humour in the details (“just drinking lots of water” and “working on our posture”), but beneath the sarcasm is a celebration of solidarity and self-awareness. Fast, punchy and hook-driven, the song flips the phrase “won’t shut up” into a badge of pride — loud, united and unapologetic.

Why it is trending: The single is gaining traction off the back of the band’s 2025 album release and their already strong reputation in Australia’s punk scene. Its short, explosive runtime and relatable lyrical themes make it highly shareable across streaming platforms and social media. Combined with Sandy Dish’s established cult following and relentless live presence, “GIRLS WON’T SHUT UP” is emerging as one of their standout anthems.
